Purpose of the Role
The Financial Accounting Specialist supports the Entity CFO in delivering accurate and compliant accounting and financial reporting for JTI Leaf Services (US) LLC. The role oversees the month-end close, prepares local and global reporting packages (including corporate, insurance, and internal control requirements), and ensures the integrity of financial records through robust general ledger oversight and analysis. The position holds responsibility for intercompany transactions and fixed asset accounting (including depreciation across statutory, group, and tax frameworks), and ensures full compliance with US GAAP and JTI policies. The role also manages treasury operations, including bank transactions, cash flow oversight, and alignment with the MFCF framework, as well as oversight of tax ledger reporting and related calculations. In addition, the role acts as a Finance Business Partner, supporting cost control, financial tracking, and value stream initiatives to drive operational and financial performance.
Main Areas of Responsibility
  • Financial Reporting
Review general ledger submissions for accuracy and completeness. Ensure timely processing of postings and correct recording in SAP. Reconcile subledgers and key accounts against supporting schedules and documentation. Prepare regular analyses of key general ledger accounts, focusing on high-volume or complex areas (e.g., accruals, BPC accounts, and "other" categories). Provide ad hoc analysis to support management, tax advisors, and auditors. Serve as a point of contact for internal departments and external stakeholders on accounting-related matters, ensuring alignment and timely resolution of issues. Maintain and complete global reporting templates and submissions, including JCFC reporting, insurance packages, risk assurance packs, MFCF financial briefs, and CBCR dimensions. Maintain financial statement structure and integrity, including account creation, master data updates, and mapping changes. Act as SPOC for SAP role requests.
  • Financial Closing
Coordinate and support the month-end close process, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders and timely completion of key activities. Prepare calculations, analyses, journal entries, and accruals (including expenses and taxes) to support accurate financial reporting. Ensure all supporting schedules and documentation are complete and serve as a basis for postings and any required adjustments. Support the Entity CFO in the preparation of quarterly reporting packages. Analyze relevant accounts, gather required inputs from cross-functional teams, and ensure accuracy and completeness of submissions. Act as a key point of contact for Corporate Accounting queries and coordinate responses with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Accounting & Compliance
Prepare ledger comparisons across US GAAP, IFRS, and tax frameworks in line with JTI's ERP solution. Ensure all differences are properly reconciled across accounting methodologies, with appropriate provisions recorded based on variance analysis. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to local authorities, including the preparation of annual reporting packages for the IRS and other tax agencies. Maintain and update all required statutory reporting documentation. Ensure the appropriate application of accounting principles to fixed assets across IFRS, US GAAP, and tax frameworks, including depreciation methodologies. Oversee accurate asset capitalization and tagging in the system. Manage and coordinate fixed asset audits to ensure full compliance with JTI global policies and procedures.
  • Treasury Management
Oversee JTI's banking relationships for all Leaf operations, including coordination with banking providers and support for operational payments. Ensure compliance with JTI Global Treasury policies and procedures, including the proper setup and management of international treasury requests.
  • Finance Partnering
Partner with US Leaf departments to support forecasting and analysis of P&L accounts within the Leaf origin. Strengthen the finance business partnering role to enhance accountability (ARCI), improve cost control, and support informed decision-making.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required
