Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Retirement, PTO

Job description

At KLAS, our mission is clear: improve healthcare by amplifying truth through collaboration, insights, and transparency. As Director of Finance / Controller, you will provide the financial leadership that supports that mission by overseeing financial strategy, accounting operations, planning, reporting, and business decision support.

This role is intentionally broader than a traditional Controller position, combining the accounting discipline needed for accurate reporting, controls, compliance, and close processes with the forward-looking FP&A leadership required for budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, business partnership, and strategic decision-making.

Because of KLAS' size, complexity, and growth stage, the ideal candidate will also bring strong data modeling capabilities beyond the traditional P&L, connecting financial, operational, sales, customer, and other business datasets to uncover insights, explain performance drivers, and help position KLAS for continued growth and long-term success.

What You'll Do

  • Lead finance and accounting with strong stewardship, reliable reporting, effective controls, and operational discipline.
  • Own close, GAAP reporting, reconciliations, audit support, tax coordination, compliance, and cash flow planning.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and scenario modeling to support leadership decisions and resource allocation.
  • Build trusted profitability reporting such as customer gross margin, domestic vs. international profitability, and business-driver analysis.
  • Develop practical cost assignment and allocation methods for direct, shared, and overhead costs.
  • Improve data definitions, system tagging, reconciliations, dashboards, and reporting workflows across key systems.
  • Translate financial and operational data into clear insights, recommendations, and action plans for leaders.
  • Develop a high-performing finance team while bridging Controller and FP&A responsibilities to support accurate results and forward-looking decisions.

What You Bring

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
  • Comfort with financial systems and tools, including QuickBooks Online, Excel, AI and data visualization tools, Brex, and Salesforce.
  • Experience leading accounting operations, FP&A, and organizational budgeting.
  • Strong analytical, modeling, and business-partnering skills.
  • Ability to combine financial and non-financial data to identify performance drivers.
  • Ability to blend accounting rigor with FP&A leadership and executive decision support.
  • Proven success improving financial processes, systems, and controls.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a passion for developing people.

Experience & Education

  • 10+ years of finance and accounting experience including accounting and finance leadership positions.
  • Experience leading finance in a growing organization.
  • Success partnering with executives on strategic financial initiatives.
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA, MBA, or advanced financial certification strongly preferred.

The salary range for this role starts at $145,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined according to the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. We offer exceptional benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, HSA with company match, 401K with company match, PTO, and more.
All employees undergo a comprehensive internal education program to gain knowledge of the healthcare information technology industry and KLAS' methodology. Learn more about us at www.klasresearch.com.
