This position is open to all University of Florida degree-seeking students registered at least half-time this summer or are registered at least half time this fall, who are eligible to work on campus and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Job Description:
The Office of UF Health Physicians in the College of Medicine is seeking a candidate for a part-time opportunity as a Finance Student Assistant. In this role, you will work as an assistant to the Director of Finance, Planning, and Procurement. This is a great opportunity for UF students interested in pursuing a career in finance, business management, or healthcare management. We are looking for a candidate who can work multiple years in this role while at UF.
Duties/Requirements:
  • Proficient in Excel
    • This position will be predominately working in Microsoft Excel to enter information and design spreadsheets to keep track of important items. The incumbent must be familiar with excel functions such as merge, hide, insert/delete cells, formulas and links. On-site training will occur, but a general comfort level with Excel is important.
  • Data Validation & Critical Thinking
    • Must be comfortable with reviewing financial reports and complete basic data validation, compare files and find the differences, identify errors in reports and utilize resources given to determine the root cause of the errors and correct them for future use. A detailed understanding of financial reporting is not necessary.
  • Good Communication skills
    • This position will be communicating effectively with clinic and department staff is necessary on a daily basis. The successful incumbent must be able to communicate effectively across different platforms: in person, via email, and by telephone.
  • General Microsoft Outlook Skills
    • This position will be using Outlook as email manager and must be familiar with basic email functions and creating subfolders.
  • Organizational Skills
    • This position will be dealing with a high volume of interoffice mail, printed reports, and various stock items that require constant organization and must be able to maintain order to work efficiently.
  • General Adobe Acrobat Skills
    • Will frequently scan, manage, and mark-up PDF files.

Expected Salary:
$17.50 per hour
Required Qualifications:
This position is open to all University of Florida degree-seeking students registered at least half-time this summer or are registered at least half time this fall, who are eligible to work on campus and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Preferred:
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, general Adobe Acrobat skills.
  • Prior documented work or volunteer experience with spreadsheets/data analysis is strongly preferred.
  • Student interested in pursuing a career in finance, business management, or healthcare management.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

Work hours: 12 hrs/week over at least 3 separate days. Specific days/times have flexibility. Must be in Gainesville & available to work all 12 months in the year.
