Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers' Financial Analysis and Investment Reporting team is a specialized group within Investment Operations focused on delivering highquality financial analytics and reporting for the company's $100+ billion investment portfolios. The team is responsible for portfolio performance and risk analysis, investment income forecasting, and numerous investmentrelated financial reporting requirements under GAAP and STAT and other accounting requirements.statutory bases. Team members partner closely with senior leaders in Investments and Finance to provide clear, actionable insights on asset allocation, returns, and capital impacts, and to support key governance forums such as Management Committee and Board meetings.
The Senior Financial Analyst is a key member of Financial Analysis & Investment Reporting team supporting the management and oversight of the company's insurance investment portfolios. This role provides financial analysis, reporting, and decision support across multiple asset classes (e.g., public and private fixed income, equities, alternatives, and cash), and partners closely with Investments, Treasury, Corporate Finance, Accounting, and other stakeholders groups within Travelers.
The Senior Financial Analyst will support portfolio performance and risk analysis, capital and liquidity planning, and investment-related financial reporting, helping ensure ensuring that investment strategies align with enterprise financial objectives and regulatory requirements.

What Will You Do?

  • Support analysis of the company's invested asset portfolios, including asset allocation, yield, total return, and risk metrics across multiple asset classes.
  • Prepare and analyze periodic investment results and management reporting (e.g., monthly/quarterly dashboards, variance analyses, and commentary) for senior leaders in Investments and Finance.
  • Assist with forecasting and planning of investment income, realized gains/losses, and other key P&L and balance sheet impacts, in coordination with Corporate Finance and FP&A.
  • Develop and maintain models to evaluate investment strategies, capital deployment, and portfolio repositioning scenarios (e.g., reinvestment analyses, duration and liquidity impacts).
  • Partner with Investment Operations, Accounting, and Portfolio managers to understand transaction activity, valuations, and data quality; reconcile variances and resolve issues as needed.
  • Support investment-related components of statutory (STAT), and GAAP financial reporting, including schedules, disclosures, and internal analyses related to invested assets.
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of investment reporting tools, standard templates, and automated processes, working closely with Technology and Data teams as appropriate.
  • Prepare materials and analyses for internal governance forums and senior management (e.g., Management Committee, Board meetings).
  • Follow internal controls and documentation standards to support SOX, audit, and compliance requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in finance, investments, corporate finance, capital markets, or related analytical roles.
  • Strong financial modeling and quantitative analysis skills; ability to build and maintain models in Excel or similar tools.
  • Ability to manage and interpret large data sets, identify trends, and translate analytic output into clear business insights.
  • Experience in insurance, asset management, banking, or other financial services environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with insurance company invested assets and balance sheets, including fixed income securities; exposure to other asset classes (equities, private placements, private credit, alternatives) strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of core finance and investment concepts, such as time value of money, duration, yield curves, risk/return, capital structure, and discounted cash flow.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and/or statutory accounting for investments is preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Financial Reporting Software (e.g., , Essbase, Hyperion, COGNOS, Bloomberg, etc.)
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with shifting priorities. Adjust to ad-hoc requests.
  • Progress toward or interest in professional designations (e.g., CFA, CPA, FRM) is a plus.
