Job description

Position Overview

CSM Industrial is seeking a qualified Quality Control Inspector to support heavy industrial construction projects. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with project specifications, client QC requirements, and industry standards on active industrial sites including Exxon-affiliated facilities.

The QC Inspector will work directly on-site performing daily inspections, maintaining documentation in Procore, and ensuring all work meets or exceeds project quality standards. Candidates must be approved by the client prior to hire.

Hourly Rate

$38.00 per hour (negotiable based on experience and education)

Schedule

50 hours per week

Per Diem

$100.00 per day worked

Required Credentials & Certifications

  • TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) — active and valid
  •  NDT Certifications (Non-Destructive Testing) — required for welding inspections and site compliance

NDT certifications may include but are not limited to: VT (Visual Testing), UT (Ultrasonic Testing), MT (Magnetic Particle Testing), PT (Penetrant Testing), or RT (Radiographic Testing).

Key Responsibilities

Site Inspections & Documentation

  • Perform daily quality control inspections of industrial cladding, siding, and structural installations
  • Log all daily inspections accurately using Procore on a tablet device
  • Conduct pre-installation, in-progress, and final inspections at each phase of work
  • Verify materials received on site match approved submittals, shop drawings, and specifications
  • Inspect substrate conditions prior to installation to confirm readiness and conformance

NDT & Welding Inspections

  •  Conduct welding inspections using applicable NDT methods (VT, UT, MT, PT, or RT as required)
  •  Verify welder qualifications and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) prior to work commencement
  •  Document NDT findings and prepare inspection reports per project and client requirements

QC Planning & Compliance

  • Write, update, and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for active project scopes
  • Review project QC plans and assure field operations remain in compliance with all requirements
  • Participate in pre-construction quality meetings and establish inspection hold points with the client
  • Verify that subcontractors and field crews are following approved methods and procedures

Non-Conformance & Corrective Action

  • Identify, document, and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for deficient work or materials
  • Track open NCRs through resolution; verify corrective actions are completed and acceptable
  • Coordinate with field supervisors and project management on timely disposition of non-conformances
  • Participate in root cause analysis for recurring quality issues and support implementation of corrective measures

Reporting & Client Coordination

  • Interface with client QC representatives, third-party inspectors, and project management team
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and milestone QC reports as required by the project
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready QC records including inspection logs, test reports, submittals, and NCRs
  • Support client and internal audits; respond to quality-related RFIs and documentation requests

Qualifications & Experience

  •  Demonstrated experience in industrial construction QC roles
  •  Proficiency with Procore or comparable construction management software
  •  Strong written communication skills for inspection reports and ITP documentation
  •  Ability to work in active heavy industrial environments with strict safety protocols
  • Self-directed; capable of managing daily inspection workload independently
