Job Description

TODAY Digital, the multiplatform arm of America's favorite morning show, is looking for a part-time PEP Commerce Editor to work across Shop TODAY digital and broadcast during a Thursday to Saturday schedule. Duties include working on Saturday broadcast segments for TODAY and assisting with Shop TODAY's refresh search strategy for their evergreen content library (including gift guides during peak shopping seasons) based on performance data, seasonality and long-term search trends.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with keen attention to detail and should be comfortable with making editorial decisions based on reader-driven analytics. The ideal candidate should also have a strong understanding of the digital lifestyle realm, along with a deep comprehension of SEO and AP Style.  

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead editor for Saturday commerce broadcast segments, as well as support the digital production of articles tied to broadcast coverage
  • Assign, edit and refresh multiple gift guides on a daily basis during peak holiday shopping seasons, covering a wide range of lifestyle categories across fashion, home, parenting, beauty and food
  • Help editors as needed to assign and edit evergreen refreshes consisting of roundups, explainers and other search topics in the lifestyle commerce space during off-peak shopping periods
  • Monitor how stories are performing using our analytics programs and making editorial decisions based on traffic / conversion patterns and internal Audience Development insight
  • Candidates must be able to work 24 hours per week from Thursday to Saturday.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a short-term position with an estimated duration of 12 months, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed. Candidates are eligible for 401K after 1,000 hours worked in 12 consecutive months.

Salary Range: $30.00-$35.00/ hour

Qualifications
  • 2+ years editing experience, preferably in the lifestyle space
  • Experience utilizing SEO best practices and tools
  • Strong understanding of the digital lifestyle space (beauty, fashion, home, fitness, etc.), preferably with evergreen coverage
  • Familiarity with a news cycle and working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Must be comfortable editing quickly and accurately with minimal supervision
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • E-commerce experience a plus
