PPC Industries manufactures bags on a roll, tubing and single and double wound sheeting film via blown film operation for the Medical and Food and Industrial markets.

Scope of the Role

The Product Engineering Intern is responsible for supporting the prototyping phase through the commercialization of new products as well as modifications to existing products. This role will help the intern understand the knowledge required for product development as it pertains to multilayer blown film extrusion. This position will support the product development efforts as it relates to the creation of blown products in the Medical, Food and Industrial Markets.

The Product Engineering Intern will report directly to the Engineering Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conduct plant trials for the development of new products for PPC Industries
  2. Work with manufacturing operations to gain a better understanding of how blown film processes work and how products are used in every day life
  3. Operate lab equipment related to material characterization such as FTIR, DSC, and material testing for strength based and additional polymer attributes
  4. Assists in the development of design standards to expedite and provide input for continuous improvement of the product development process
