Job description

Class Description The Scene Shop staff are responsible for assisting the Technical Directors, designers, and staff in the completion of productions and shop activities including but not limited to: scenic construction, theatrical scenic maintenance, theatrical lighting and equipment maintenance, set-up and breakdown, and the efficient operation of College Theatre performances. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree and one year direct relevant experience in technical theater or related fields (construction, events/AV, film and television) -or- an Associate's degree with three years of similar experience. Professional training in a specialized theatrical skill preferred or completion of Stagecraft class is required.

Able to work during peak periods including weekends and evenings and fill in for absences as needed. Positions are located on the Catonsville and Essex campuses Class Specific Essential Duties Assist with the building of sets including carpentry: measuring, cutting, construction, and use of power tools. Welding under supervision.

Hanging, cabling, focusing of lights. Setup and operation of sound system including soundboard, mics, amps, speaker. Designing and constructing props.

Serve as a technician or crew for events in the facility.
