Key responsibilities

  • Guide video projects from initial pitch to final delivery, managing schedules and production logistics.

  • Handle hands-on editing for digital assets and collaborate with external vendors for post-production work.

Job description

Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered robots to support humanity in every facet of life. Our flagship humanoid robot, Apollo, is built to collaborate thoughtfully with people, starting with critical industries such as manufacturing and logistics, with future applications in healthcare, the home, and beyond.
We operate at the cutting edge of Applied AI, applying our expertise across the full robotics stack to solve some of society's most important problems. You will join a team dedicated to bringing Apollo to market at scale, tackling the complex challenges like safety, commercialization, and mass production to change the world for the better.
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a master visual storyteller-a lead Writer/Producer who excels at taking complex hardware/deeptech or Robotics and translating them into sharp, cinematic narratives and compelling content. You will serve as the engine of our video strategy, guiding projects seamlessly from initial pitch to final delivery.
While your core strength lies in creative direction, writing, and production management, you are a true multi-hyphenate: you bring valuable secondary skills in video editing and/or stills photography. Whether cutting a high-tempo video yourself, capturing striking product photography on set or on location, or collaborating with 3rd-party Motion Graphics for full-scale post-production, you know how to make complex hard tech look dynamic, authentic, and accessible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Writing & Conceptual Development (Core): Write, script, storyboard, and pitch high-impact video concepts for product launches, digital campaigns, and narrative brand storytelling.
  • End-to-End Producing (Core): Lead video projects from ideation to delivery-managing schedules, directing shoots, and coordinating production logistics to ensure high output and brand alignment.
  • Cinematography & Directing (Core): Direct on-set talent (engineers, executives, actors) and serve as a primary visual lead on set, ensuring camera composition and lighting match a premium commercial aesthetic.
  • Editing & Post-Production (Secondary): Handle hands-on editing for quick-turn digital cuts, internal updates, and promotional assets, while collaborating with external finishing/motion graphics partners for major campaigns.
  • Brand & Stills Photography (Secondary): Capture high-quality product, behind-the-scenes, and environmental photography to support multi-channel marketing efforts alongside video shoots.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with executive, product, and engineering teams to turn technical robotics breakthroughs into engaging visual narratives.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Core Creative & Narrative Skills
  • Scriptwriting & Concepting: Advanced scriptwriting, storyboarding, narrative pacing, and pitching high-impact video concepts for digital campaigns and product launches.
  • Creative Direction: Visual storytelling, campaign strategy, and translating complex engineering/hardware milestones into commercial narratives.

Production & Directing Skills
  • End-to-End Production Management: Project planning, scheduling, budget/logistics management, and directing projects from pitch to final delivery.
  • On-Set Directing & Cinematography: Directing diverse talent (engineers, executives, actors), camera composition, cinematic lighting setups, and field audio management for lean or full crews.

Secondary Technical Skills
  • Video Editing: Non-linear editing (NLE) proficiency using Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro for rough cuts, quick-turn social/digital assets, and assembly.
  • Brand & Stills Photography: Digital photography, studio/field lighting, framing, and basic image retouching for web and social channels.
  • Post-Production Supervision: Managing and collaborating with third-party vendors, external motion graphics designers, and finishing editors.

Interpersonal & Organizational Skills
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering directly with C-suite executives, product managers, and engineering teams.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Years of Experience: 10+ years of professional experience writing, producing, and directing video content.
  • Industry Background (Preferred): hard-tech, automotive, or consumer electronics. Robotics experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, Marketing, or equivalent 4 years of professional experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
  • Hearing and speech to communicate
