We are currently looking for a Flexo Press Assistant to join our team. The Press Assistant role is responsible for the set up and support of printing presses in accordance with the printing specifications and customer requirements/expectations. Our primary need is currently 2nd & 3rd Shift.

Responsibilities
  • Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
  • Attain and maintain all defined job objectives related to the planning and execution of all jobs and quick changes.
  • Review job bags for changes, special instructions, cylinder size, and other pertinent production information.
  • Assist in the performance of all external make-ready operations in preparation for changeover activities (changing from one label job to another).
  • Assist in the performance of all external clean-up activities following changeover.
  • Plate mounting, including the ability to mount own plates, verify plates, registration, and unwind position prior to placement in the press.
  • Clean ink pans and ancillary equipment.
  • Strip plates from cylinders.
  • Locate dies to and from press.
  • Assist the Press Operator as required.
  • Assist the Press Operator in coordinating press maintenance activities to maximize quality and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain general supplies and keep chemical bottles, jugs, and containers filled and properly labeled.
  • Complete and maintain cleanliness of the press, press area, plate and die area, floors, and facility.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties.
  • May be required to work with the Press Operator to view labels with the assistance of a strobe light.
  • Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC.
  • May be required to complete quality assurance sheets and associated documentation.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace.
  • Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned.
  • Related duties as assigned by the Press Operator, Supervisor, or Manager.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Print shop experience helpful, but not required.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with others verbally and in written form; seen as a team player.
  • Ability to read and understand a job ticket.
  • Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test).
  • Ability correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test).
  • Ability to differentiate colors (able to pass a color test).
  • Ability to input data into computer systems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions.
  • Assertive and solution-focused.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Training is on day shift for the first two weeks.
  • Busy season (March-September) may include overtime, including weekends.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and move around the press area for long periods of time.
  • Frequent walking required.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • This role includes lifting around 35 pounds with some heavier equipment often.
  • Ability to use hands to feel and touch, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery and production equipment.

Vision Requirements:
  • Vision correctable to 20/20 if required.
  • Ability to differentiate colors.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
