Job description

LOCATION: Albuquerque, NM

STATUS: Part-time/Non-exempt

MISSION STATEMENT:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must be able to life 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Good people skills
  • Must have ability to follow directions, both written and verbal
  • Ability to meet quotas set by supervisor
  • Valid New Mexico driver’s license with clean MVR
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Employment contingent upon successful completion of a background check

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare donations (sorting/pricing) to be sent to the store floor, repair area or disposal
  • Accept donations from the general public and distribute to the appropriate area, writing receipts as needed
  • Assist in the store with displaying items
  • Drive the truck as assigned, once the safety training has been completed
  • Train and monitor beneficiaries in their work therapy assignment in the warehouse
  • Ensure an attitude of “dignity and respect” as relates to the interpersonal relationships of all employees and/or beneficiaries
  • Act as personal representative of The Salvation Army and treat all customer/donors courteously, answering questions as they arise
  • Meet or exceed production quotas as determined by supervisor
  • Keep immediate work area clean and safe
  • Ensure all accidents involving equipment, personal injury or property damage are reported to supervisor
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleanup on the premises
  • Assist in unloading of trucks, and distribute to the appropriate area
  • Other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor as they relate to the position of Production Assistant

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. The Salvation Army will attempt to satisfy requests as long as the accommodation needed is reasonable and no undue hardship would result.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
