Job description

Scope:

Skilled knowledge of package machines. Responsible for key setup and operation of machines in the Packing Department. Monitor machine operation during production processes for adjustments. Report complications of machinery directly to the Lead or Shift Supervisor. Key member for inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor machine operation to ensure flow of daily production in keeping consistent with the Shift Supervisor's direction that control and improve:

Production yield and efficiency of facility against standard

Safety

Leadership

Cleanliness

Food safety and quality

Adherence to SOP's

Employee ownership and understanding of product and process and overall teambuilding

Employee welfare

Continuously take independent action, perform the daily paperwork, and provide corrective action recommendations to the Shift Leader in the areas of:

Safety

Quality

Cleanliness

Yield & efficiency

Keep machine and area clean and free of straps, plastic, and boxes throughout the shift and before the next shift arrives

Communicate with area Lead to keep production flowing smoothly and startup of lines

Report broken or inoperable equipment or any abnormal noises to the Shift Supervisor

Set up tape machines, box code daters, load weight machine and metal detectors with correct information

Set up belts, case sealers, package codes, and keep inventory on all numbers and supplies needed for coders

Adjust tray rails for trays being used throughout the day

Maintain accurate case count for changeovers and set up packaging for changeovers

Check on all areas of packaging for proper film, weight settings, casing, and skid loading throughout the day

Help with set up of next shift

Continuous checks on proper code dates and sealing of all packages

Other tasks as assigned

Adhere to all environmental, health and safety requirements and procedures

Maintain annual training in Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Defense, PPE, and OSHA regulated programs
