Job description

Calvary Internships
Real ministry. Real leadership development.
Calvary Internships are designed to develop future leaders both in and out of the church. As an intern, you’ll serve on a specific ministry team during the week and join a weekly intern cohort focused on leadership, discipleship, doctrine, and spiritual formation. You'll be trusted, trained, discipled, and cared for.

Why Calvary Internships?
Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale has a long history of raising up leaders. Many of our current pastors, staff, and key volunteers started here as young men and women who were willing to be discipled and to serve. Our internship program is one of the primary ways we invest in emerging leaders and identify future staff and ministry leaders both at Calvary and beyond.
If you sense a call to ministry, want to explore serving in the local church, or simply want to grow as a follower of Jesus and a leader, this program is built for you!
Who Should Apply?
Calvary Internships are for followers of Jesus who want to grow in character, competency, and calling.
We’re looking for people who are:
  • Typically ages 16–25 (no hard age limit)
  • Hungry to grow spiritually and willing to be discipled
  • Ready to serve, learn, and be part of a team
  • Serious about developing as a Christ-centered leader, whether in the church, marketplace, or wherever God leads
Interns serve in an unpaid role, however, limited housing is available and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The internship follows a semester rhythm (Fall, Spring, and Summer) and requires at least a one-semester commitment, with the option to extend up to three semesters. A typical week is 20–25 hours, allowing flexibility for school or work. Below are the dates for the upcoming semester:
  • Fall 2026: August 25 – December 13
How the Internship Works
Our internship program blends department-based ministry experience with a weekly leadership cohort so you get the best of both worlds.
1. Serve on a Ministry Team (2–3 days per week)
You’ll be placed in a specific ministry area based on your gifts, interests, and the needs of the church. This could be Worship, Creative, NextGen, Discipleship, Outreach, or Operations.

On your ministry team, you will:
  • Serve regularly in real ministry settings
  • Take on meaningful tasks and responsibilities
  • Be supervised and mentored by a staff member or leaderLearn the skills and “craft” of that area of ministry
This is where you experience what day-to-day ministry actually looks like.

2. Intern Cohort (1 day per week)
One day each week, all interns step away from their departments and come together as a cohort.
In the cohort, you will:
  • Learn about biblical leadership
  • Practice spiritual disciplines
  • Study core doctrines of the Christian faith
  • Process what you’re seeing and learning in ministry
  • Build community with other interns
This is more like a leadership/discipleship school environment that is structured, intentional, and focused on your growth.

3. Be Developed as a Future Leader
The goal isn’t just to add an internship to your resume but to develop you as a leader and a Christ-follower.
  • You'll receive feedback, encouragement, and opportunities to step up
  • You'll be known by who God created you to be, not just by what you can do
  • For some, this will open doors to future roles on staff or deeper involvement in ministry
Whether you end up at Calvary, another church, or in the marketplace, we want you to leave closer to Jesus, clearer on your calling, and stronger as a leader.

When you apply, you’ll tell us which ministry tracks you’re most interested in. You’ll serve primarily in one area, but every intern will participate in the same weekly cohort.
