As Landfill Operator you are responsible for all operations at the landfill including scale operation, heavy equipment operation, truck ticketing system, landfill and building maintenance, and sampling. The individual in this role will be in constant contact with customers and therefore, must demonstrate excellent communications skills and a high level of customer service. As this is a safety-sensitive role and due to the nature of working conditions, the successful candidate is required to be mentally and physically fit to successfully perform the tasks and responsibilities of this role.

This position is located near Drayton Valley, AB.

Based at our Pembina Industrial Landfill, this position works a 7 on / 7 off rotation of 12-hour day shifts.


  • Safe operation of heavy equipment, pumps, scale operation and maintenance
  • Landfill, building, and site housekeeping maintenance
  • Random sample gathering and analysis
  • General labor duties as required
  • Responsible for proper equipment operation
  • Administering scale operations and data entry
  • Conducting ongoing equipment maintenance
  • Maintaining general housekeeping duties
  • Ensuring landfill and building maintenance

  • A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid and acceptable Driver’s license, drivers abstract, and successful completion of Pre-employment testing
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with equipment and computer systems
  • Valid and current safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, WHMIS, TDG
  • A strong attention to detail, communication skills and a profound ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment
  • Proven ability to work well under an occasional amount of supervision
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills
