Job Description

Position Description/Responsibilities:
CAI, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking for a short-term Senior Desktop and Server Support Consultant  to help support systems and applications for the Control Center of a government transit agency.
Primary responsibilities include:
Receive and respond to support requests from users via phone.
Respond and resolve reported incidents. Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting. Escalate to software vendors as required.
Perform system configuration / administration.
Installation of application updates on Windows PCs.
Perform knowledge transfer activities to ensure that Control Center operations continue without material disruption.
Fulfill report & special data requests. SQL skills are not required, but person should understand basic data models and how to create reports. Create reports using a web based reporting tool.
Document Control Center processes and procedures to create a support manual.
Assist in identifying and implementing improvement opportunities.
Be available on an on-call basis after hours.
Position Requirements/Technical Skills:
Education:     Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other information technology related field.
Below are required skills and experience (must have)
Extensive Help Desk experience working with users and providing great customer service support. 
Knowledge skills with Windows Server 2008, 2012, and Windows 7, VMware Virtual Server, Active Directory, and TCP/IP network configuration.
Knowledge Skills with Local printer's support; and system network communication support.
Basic PC hardware support.
Knowledge of server backup methodologies.
Basic Ability to troubleshoot error codes and identify root causes of the issues.
Experience in testing and applying security patches for Operating Systems and applications on Window Platforms.
Basic Knowledge of role based user security and how to set it up, so that all users have their expected access to the system(s).
Strong documentation skills in building out and updating system design and modifications.
Basic knowledge of Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) routes and operations (trains and buses)
Below are desirable skills and experience (nice to have)         
Skill and knowledge with Filemaker Server and Filemaker Pro.
Experience in producing technical reports, analysis and statistical reports using desktop publishing software and IT tools related to this position.
Programming skills, such as SQL or PL/SQL.
Basic Unix Knowledge with Solaris Operating systems.
Basic Knowledge of CAD (Computer Aid Dispatch) Operating system.
Basic Knowledge with web-based applications ASP and PHP Scripting.
Experience configuring server hardware, including Blade Servers.
