Information Governance File Review Staff Attorney

Cooley is seeking an IG File Review Staff attorney to join the Information Governance & Privacy team.

Position summary: Cooley Technology embraces a culture of customer service excellence, and all members of the department are expected to move this agenda forward. To that end, the IG File Review Staff Attorney is responsible for utilizing software and document review workflows to gather and review large amounts of electronic and physical records in connection with client file transfers, legal holds, and other IG review functions. This role will use substantive skills and professional maturity to operate independently with minimal guidance from the IG Compliance Manager. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Perform substantive document review of both physical and electronic records
  • Review and code documents for responsiveness, relevancy, confidentiality, risk management issues and privilege
  • Review and analyze information to help determine its relevance to a case
  • Utilize e-discovery software to narrow review and tag documents
  • Assist with legal hold reviews
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by the IG Compliance Manager
  • Work with members of the office of the General Counsel as necessary regarding risk management issues
  • All other duties as assigned or required

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
  • Ability to travel, as required
  • 5+ years of experience with document review and workflows
  • JD Degree
  • Willingness to maintain continuing education and training specific to professional skills development commensurate with records and information management industry and responsibilities of position
  • Proficiency in Relativity and other eDiscovery software
  • Ability to use PC-based and on-line technology relevant to job. Working knowledge of electronic document review platforms and retrieval applications such as Relativity, Documatrix, and Concordance
  • Thorough understanding of rules of attorney-client and attorney work product privileges

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Litigation experience
  • Experience with Relativity, O365/M365, GSuite, iManage / Govern systems

The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $130,000 - $175,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
