What is a Figma Designer?

A Figma Designer is a professional who specializes in using Figma, a collaborative web-based design tool, to create user interfaces, prototypes, and design systems for digital products such as websites and mobile apps. They work closely with product managers, developers, and other designers to visualize concepts, design user experiences, and ensure design consistency. Figma Designers leverage the platform's collaborative features to streamline feedback and iterate designs efficiently. Their expertise includes UI/UX principles, prototyping, and often some knowledge of front-end development.

What is the difference between Figma Designer vs UI Designer?

AspectFigma DesignerUI Designer

Tools & SkillsFigma, prototyping, collaboration featuresAdobe XD, Sketch, visual design, branding
Work EnvironmentCollaborative, often remote, using cloud-based toolsDesign studios, agencies, or in-house teams

While both roles involve digital design, a Figma Designer specializes in creating interactive prototypes and interfaces primarily using Figma, emphasizing collaboration and prototyping. A UI Designer focuses on visual aesthetics, branding, and layout design, often using tools like Adobe XD or Sketch. Both roles are essential in product development but differ in their core responsibilities and tools used.

Can a UX designer make 300k?

While some senior UX designers or those with specialized skills and extensive experience can earn salaries approaching or exceeding $300,000, this level of compensation is typically found in high-cost-of-living areas, large companies, or through freelance and consulting work. Most UX designers earn between $70,000 and $150,000 annually, with higher salaries often linked to leadership roles or advanced expertise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Figma Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Figma Designer, you need strong expertise in UI/UX design principles, visual design, and a portfolio demonstrating hands-on experience with digital products. Proficiency in Figma itself, as well as familiarity with design systems, prototyping tools, and sometimes basic front-end technologies, is essential. Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills help you work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. These abilities ensure that designs are not only visually appealing but also user-centered, functional, and efficiently integrated into modern product development workflows.

Is UX a difficult job?

Figma Designers often find UX design challenging because it requires understanding user needs, creating intuitive interfaces, and collaborating with developers and stakeholders. Success in this role depends on skills in design tools, user research, and problem-solving, which can involve a steep learning curve for beginners.

How does a Figma Designer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during a product development cycle?

As a Figma Designer, you will regularly collaborate with product managers, developers, and other designers to ensure cohesive and efficient design implementation. This often involves participating in design sprints, sharing prototypes for feedback, and conducting handoff meetings where detailed design specs are communicated to developers. Figma’s real-time collaboration features make it easy to gather input and iterate quickly, but it also means strong communication and flexibility are key to success. Expect to attend regular stand-ups, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions to align your work with the broader team’s objectives.

Is it hard to get a job at Figma?

Securing a Figma Designer role can be competitive, as it requires strong skills in UI/UX design, proficiency with Figma software, and a solid portfolio. Candidates often need relevant experience, a good understanding of design principles, and the ability to collaborate in a team environment.

Are UX designers still in demand?

UX designers remain in high demand as companies prioritize user experience to stay competitive, especially with the growth of digital products and services. Skills in user research, wireframing, and proficiency with tools like Figma are valuable in this field, and demand is expected to continue as organizations focus on improving customer satisfaction.

Job description

About Ovative Group:

Ovative Group is an independent, full-funnel media, measurement, and creative firm. Leveraging our deep industry expertise, we help brands like Best Buy, Domino's, American Eagle, The Home Depot, Post, Disney, Tumi, Michael Kors, Boost Mobile, and UnitedHealth Group transform their media and measurement programs. The result? Profitable growth that speaks for itself.

At Ovative, we don't just track data, we redefine success. How do we do it? Our proprietary MarTech platform, EMRge helps businesses transform marketing into a driver of sustainable growth. Powered by Enterprise Marketing Return (EMR), our differentiated approach to holistic media buying, planning, and measurement, EMRge is the first MarTech platform to measure businesses holistically. We're all about raising the bar every day, and it shows. Our work has been recognized by organizations like Digiday, Google, Inc. 5000, USA Today, and Search Engine Land.

About the Role:

Creative Lab is Ovative's in-house creative engine - built on our vision of Modern Making. As part of the broader Creative Team (Influencer + Creative Lab), we unite brand strategy, cultural relevance, creators, AI enablement, and strategic media to create ideas people care about within systems designed to evolve.

We are seeking a Production Designer who thrives at the intersection of craft, precision, and speed. This is a maker who takes pride in flawless execution - someone who can take a concept from an Art Director, Designer, or Production Lead and bring it to life across formats, channels, and platform specs without missing a detail. You understand that great production isn't just about output volume; it's about protecting the integrity of an idea all the way to final delivery. You bring a strong eye for layout, typography, design systems, motion, and production fundamentals - and a fluency in AI tools that accelerate and enhance your workflow. You're the person the team counts on to get it done right, every time.

Responsibilities of a Production Designer:

  • Execute high-quality, on-brand creative assets across digital, social, paid media, email, and presentation channels, building from established concepts, templates, and brand systems with precision and care.

  • Design and animate paid social and digital assets across platform-specific placements, applying strong fundamentals in layout, typography, hierarchy, spacing, and visual consistency throughout all production work.

  • Resize, adapt, version, and scale campaign creative across formats, specs, and aspect ratios - maintaining design integrity from original concept to final file.

  • Support dynamic creative, design systems, and templated production workflows that allow campaigns to scale efficiently.

  • Build and traffic HTML5 display banner ads to platform specifications for Google, Meta, and programmatic channels, with a solid understanding of animation, file weight, and technical requirements.

  • Leverage AI tools and generative workflows to accelerate asset creation, explore visual options, and expand production capacity without sacrificing craft.

  • Partner closely with Art Directors, Designers, and Production Leads throughout the process - flagging inconsistencies, raising quality concerns, and contributing ideas that strengthen the final output.

  • Maintain organized, well-structured file systems and asset libraries through consistent naming, archiving, and versioning that makes the whole team faster.

  • Manage a high volume of concurrent projects with clarity and accountability, proactively communicating timelines, progress, and risks that could affect delivery.

  • Incorporate feedback and revisions quickly and thoughtfully, treating iteration as part of the process.

  • Stay current on platform specs, animation requirements, file formats, and production best practices across Display, Meta, Google, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, and emerging channels.

  • Contribute to a culture of craft and continuous improvement - sharing tools, workflow shortcuts, and learnings that make the Creative Lab sharper and faster.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.

  • 2-4 years of experience in an agency, in-house creative studio, or brand environment, with a proven track record of executing high-quality digital production work at volume.

  • A portfolio demonstrating strong design fundamentals, meticulous attention to detail, and experience producing assets across digital channels - including work built within brand systems and templates.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Animate, After Effects) and Figma, with the ability to work quickly and accurately across all tools. Experience with Celtra or similar creative automation platforms is a plus.

  • Working fluency in AI-powered production tools - including Adobe Firefly, Photoshop Generative Fill, and image generation - with the ability to accelerate production and expand creative options within established brand systems.

  • Experience animating, developing, and trafficking HTML5 display creative, with a solid understanding of file weight, animation timing, platform specs, and QA best practices.

  • Strong command of digital ad production requirements across Meta, Google, TikTok, and programmatic platforms - including sizing, format, and technical spec compliance.

  • Exceptional attention to detail - you catch what others miss and take pride in delivering work that is accurate, consistent, and production-ready.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-moving environment without compromising quality or missing deadlines.

  • Strong communication habits - you keep stakeholders informed, ask clarifying questions early, and escalate proactively when something is at risk.

  • A growth mindset - curious, adaptable, and motivated to keep learning new tools, platforms, and production best practices.
