What is a Figma designer?

A Figma Designer is a professional who specializes in using Figma, a collaborative web-based design tool, to create user interfaces, prototypes, and design systems for digital products such as websites and mobile apps. They work closely with product managers, developers, and other designers to visualize concepts, design user experiences, and ensure design consistency. Figma Designers leverage the platform's collaborative features to streamline feedback and iterate designs efficiently. Their expertise includes UI/UX principles, prototyping, and often some knowledge of front-end development.

How does a Figma designer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during a product development cycle?

As a Figma Designer, you will regularly collaborate with product managers, developers, and other designers to ensure cohesive and efficient design implementation. This often involves participating in design sprints, sharing prototypes for feedback, and conducting handoff meetings where detailed design specs are communicated to developers. Figma’s real-time collaboration features make it easy to gather input and iterate quickly, but it also means strong communication and flexibility are key to success. Expect to attend regular stand-ups, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions to align your work with the broader team’s objectives.

Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills help you work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. These abilities ensure that designs are not only visually appealing but also user-centered, functional, and efficiently integrated into modern product development workflows.

Job description

Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us!

We're looking for an experienced, customer‑centric product leader to drive the company forward — supporting Figma's multi‑product platform experience by ensuring the user experience is clear, coherent, and high craft. This group impacts how every customer feels about Figma, our adoption and retention metrics, and collaboration rates. You will tackle complex core product and platform challenges with real revenue implications and set strategies for Figma's product experiences across groups, impacting the way millions of people design and build together every day.

This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

What you'll do at Figma:
  • Lead teams that own shared user experiences across the Figma product suite, including platform coherence, multiplayer, collaborative experiences, and the internal design system (Figma Pattern Library)
  • Set vision, strategy, and goals for workflows and interoperability at Figma. Dive into details to drive decisions forward. Set the standard for leadership that works across boundaries and for high‑quality PM craft
  • Work closely with cross‑functional partners in engineering, data, and design to drive inspiring outcomes across teams within this group and across the company
  • Hire, coach, and develop a senior bench of PMs across the group
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • Demonstrated ability to drive challenging, sweeping changes across groups
  • Excellent cross‑functional collaboration & communication
  • Deep user empathy, appetite for complexity and a drive for simplicity
  • A track record of setting strategy and executing on major user‑facing initiatives in environments with scale, ambiguity, and complexity (both technical and product)
  • 5+ years managing PMs, experience coaching a senior bench of PMs, and fostering collaborative, high‑performance, joyful team environments
  • Strong systems thinking and UX judgment, with a demonstrated ability to set pace and operate with high agency
While it's not required, it's an added plus if you also have:
  • Experience working on major cross‑app overhauls and designs systems for a multi‑product company

At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills.
