Figma Designer information

What is a Figma designer?

A Figma Designer is a professional who specializes in using Figma, a collaborative web-based design tool, to create user interfaces, prototypes, and design systems for digital products such as websites and mobile apps. They work closely with product managers, developers, and other designers to visualize concepts, design user experiences, and ensure design consistency. Figma Designers leverage the platform's collaborative features to streamline feedback and iterate designs efficiently. Their expertise includes UI/UX principles, prototyping, and often some knowledge of front-end development.

How does a Figma designer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during a product development cycle?

As a Figma Designer, you will regularly collaborate with product managers, developers, and other designers to ensure cohesive and efficient design implementation. This often involves participating in design sprints, sharing prototypes for feedback, and conducting handoff meetings where detailed design specs are communicated to developers. Figma’s real-time collaboration features make it easy to gather input and iterate quickly, but it also means strong communication and flexibility are key to success. Expect to attend regular stand-ups, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions to align your work with the broader team’s objectives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Figma designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Figma Designer, you need strong expertise in UI/UX design principles, visual design, and a portfolio demonstrating hands-on experience with digital products. Proficiency in Figma itself, as well as familiarity with design systems, prototyping tools, and sometimes basic front-end technologies, is essential. Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills help you work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. These abilities ensure that designs are not only visually appealing but also user-centered, functional, and efficiently integrated into modern product development workflows.

Engrain

Job description

Engrain builds map-based tech that's redefining how real estate works. Our interactive, unit-level maps and powerful data integrations help over 1,000 companies-and 20,000 properties-to make smarter decisions, streamline leasing, and deliver better renter experiences. From prospect to renewal, our products give properties a spatial brain and a visual edge when it comes to property marketing and management. And it's working: our churn rate is just 5%, and we've been putting up double-digit growth numbers every year.
We're not your typical proptech company. We move fast, we stay curious, and we don't do stale or corporate fluff. Backed by successful Seed and Series A rounds, we're entering a phase of serious scale.
Creative Services by Engrain is Engrain's in-house branding agency. We do the design work most in-house teams don't get to: full brand systems, website design, campaign concepts, print design, all built for multifamily real estate clients who need to stand out in a market that mostly looks the same. As a Graphic Designer on our Creative Services team, you'll take projects from early concept through final execution, working alongside a small team of designers and reporting to our Creative Director. You'll touch a high volume of branding and web projects, which means fast iteration, sharp instincts, and the ability to make similar project types feel distinct.
What you'll do...
  • Design branding systems and high-performing websites for clients in the multifamily real estate space.
  • Create print collateral that carries the same level of craft as digital work.
  • Bring fresh concepts to a high volume of similar project types without work feeling repetitive or templated.
  • Work closely with the Creative Director to understand project goals, creative direction, and execution standards.
  • Use AI tools to speed up moodboarding, concept exploration, and early-stage brainstorming.
  • Implement AI workflows to production-level tasks to free up time for higher-value creative work.
  • Participate in creative critiques and give/receive feedback that improves the work.
  • Bring a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to problem-solving and creative blocks.
  • Work with the development team to keep designs buildable within existing technology platforms.

Requirements
What you offer us...
  • 2+ years of design experience in an agency or in-house creative environment, ideally with high project volume.
  • 2+ years of experience in Figma designing websites.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Solid understanding of typography, hierarchy, layout, and core UX/UI principles.
  • Familiarity with AI design tools (Figma's native AI features, Adobe Firefly, or similar) to complement workflow, never to replace human craft.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented with a passion for problem solving and exploring new creative technologies.
  • A passion for branding and excitement for storytelling with a strong understanding of designing beyond visuals.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.

What we offer you...
  • Salary Disclosure for Colorado: salary of $58,000 - $65,000. Final offer amount is determined by factors including years and depth of candidate's experience, certifications, and skill set alignment to the job requirements
  • 100% coverage of employee's health, dental and vision insurance with basic plan
  • Up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave
  • Up to 18 days annually of PTO & 10 holidays per year
  • Dog-friendly office
  • 401(k) match up to 4 percent
  • Annual stipend for personal growth through our Grow475 program
  • On-site amenities including a professional fitness center, flexible & modern workspace, coffee bar, happy hour taps & team member lounge

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, age, marital status, pregnancy, genetic information, or other legally protected status.
Salary Description
$58,000 - $65,000
