Job description

Overview

The Line Cook is responsible for preparing food orders in a speedy and accurate manner as requested by customers.

Responsibilities
  • Reads orders off of Kitchen Display System monitors
  • Reads recipes and produces a finished product according to the procedures and plate presentations.
  • Cooks food according to guests' specifications.
  • Places finished products on the line cook shelf in an organized manner.
  • Produces food within ticket time requirement.
  • Places products in the hot wells and reheats various food products and places on the line as needed.
  • Ensures guests receive safe food products of the highest quality, freshness, and consistency.
  • Stores all food products in specific sized pans. Covers, dates and places in appropriate cooler.
  • Cleans as you go and sanitize the cook line as well as equipment, walls, floors, and hoods.
  • Promotes team work by assisting in cleaning areas of the kitchen, sweeping and mopping, cleaning the coolers, organizing dry storage, etc.  
  • Assists management team in controlling food cost.
  • Observes the basic rules of kitchen safety, sanitation and back door safety.
  • Uses First In First Out (FIFO) rule to ensure proper rotation.
  • Utilizes various cleaning chemicals in accordance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Completes all daily, opening and closing side work.  Get checked out by management before the end of the shift.
  • Provides friendly and competent customer service.
  • Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience (include certs or licenses needed):

  • Restaurant experience preferred.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Able to work under stress.
  • Able to work accurately and rapidly.
  • Able to multitask.
  • Must possess a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to adapt to change when required.
  • Ability to work with different pieces of kitchen equipment.
  • Must be well groomed and follow company uniform standards.
  • Must be able to weekends and holidays.
  • Must have reliable transportation and phone.
  • Must be able to communicate in English. - IF APPLICABLE
  • Able and willing to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
  • Able and willing to work cooperatively with other team members.
