Field Service Technician III

Service - Needville, Tx


A Service Technician III is a senior-level field technician responsible for advanced troubleshooting, installation, commissioning, repair, optimization, and customer support for company equipment and systems. This role serves as the technical leader in the field, handling complex service issues, mentoring junior technicians, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring customer satisfaction, safety, and profitability.

In organizations such as Croft Production Systems, a Tech III is often the bridge between field operations, engineering, sales, and customer operations. They are expected to operate with minimal supervision and make critical decisions in real-time field environments.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and process-related issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures.
  • Develop corrective action plans to reduce repeat service calls.
  • Interpret P&IDs, schematics, control logic, and technical manuals.
  • Lead major service projects, startups, and commissioning activities.
  • Serve as lead technician on multi-tech jobsites.
  • Coordinate field activities with customers, operations, engineering, and management.
  • Make field decisions regarding safety, scheduling, and repairs.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers.
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and service outcomes professionally.
  • Build long-term trust through responsiveness and technical credibility.
  • Identify customer operational concerns and improvement opportunities.
  • Train and mentor Tech I and Tech II employees.
  • Assist in developing training materials and standard operating procedures.
  • Promote best practices in troubleshooting, safety, and customer service.
  • Lead by example in all safety practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and ensure proper PPE and work permits are used.

Educational/Training/Experience

Experience:

  • 5-10+ years of field service or industry experience.
  • Amine Plant experience preferred
  • Dehydration Equipment experience preferred
  • JT Plant experience preferred

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, process equipment, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to read:
    • P&IDs
    • Electrical schematics
    • Process flow diagrams
    • Technical manuals
  • Experience with commissioning and startup procedures.
  • Advanced troubleshooting capability.
