Who will you be working with?

You will be working within the Field Service Tech team at our Customer facility and will report to the Regional Field Services Manager.

How will you make a difference?

The field services technician interacts with the customer to ensure that products provided for passenger trains are fully operational. They listen and respond to the customer's concerns, and diagnose and solve problems with equipment. Their goal is 100% customer satisfaction.

What do we want to know about you?

  • High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
  • Good knowledge of relevant technologies such as electromechanical parts.
  • Ability to take initiative to accomplish tasks.ย 
  • Comfortable working on retrofit and installation of new equipment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in difficult circumstances.ย  Must possess excellent interpersonal skills to treat customers with tact and respect.

What will your typical day look like?

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are to perform one or more of the following.ย  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Respond to customer needs as instructed by the Field Service Manager.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures in the field.ย  Work with engineering to resolve difficult issues.
  • Track and report completion status of field modifications
  • Manage response and repair times as estimated for each assigned job. Complete tasks effectively in a timely manner.
  • Possess the knowledge necessary to implement all field related policies and procedures.
  • Be prepared, mentally and physically, to respond quickly to field emergencies.
  • Work with peers and sub-contractors to complete tasks successfully
  • Interact with customer and communicate effectively.
  • Communicate regularly with Field Service Manager to address customer issues, scheduling, and to provide feedback on the experience with the customer.

What about the physical demands of the job?

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:ย  Ability to travel by air, train or car across U.S. and Canadian time zones and work effectively.ย 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:ย ย  Field services environment, including rail yards and other outdoor areas. May involve exposure to cold and hot temperatures, humidity, dust, vapors, fumes, vibration and other loud noises from the plant and customer locations in the field. Travel a majority of working hours. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

The pay range for this position is $34.50-$37.00 per hour. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
