Job description

Position: Maintenance Field Service Manager

Summary: The Maintenance Field Service Manager oversees the day-to-day leadership and performance of the Maintenance Field Operations Managers. This role ensures that maintenance operations are executed at a high level across assigned books of business through strong communication, accountability, training, quality control, scheduling oversight, and operational follow-through. The Maintenance Field Service Manager supports the Director of Field Operations by driving consistent execution of Green Summit’s maintenance standards, production expectations, and team development initiatives.

Direct Reports: Maintenance Field Operations Managers

Maintenance Field Service Manager Responsibilities:

1. Manages and supports the Maintenance Field Operations Managers in their daily operational responsibilities across their assigned books of business.

2. Holds Field Operations Managers accountable for quality, production, staffing, communication, and budget performance for maintenance hours and irrigation billable hours.

3. Ensures Field Operations Managers are actively enforcing company safety policies, conducting safety meetings, investigating incidents, and driving corrective actions to reduce accidents and injuries.

4. Conducts regular one-on-ones with direct reports to review priorities, performance, challenges, and development needs.

5. Provides informal on-the-job training and coaching to help Field Operations Managers improve leadership, scheduling, quality control, labor management, and financial performance.

6. Reinforces Green Summit policies, operational standards, and best practices with all direct reports.

7. Monitors the operational performance of each Field Operations Manager, including hours, gross margin, route efficiency, quality execution, staffing effectiveness, and responsiveness.

8. Reviews team performance metrics regularly and escalates major issues, trends, or risks to the Director of Field Operations.

9. Supports Field Operations Managers in solving daily operational issues including staffing shortages, quality concerns, customer escalations, routing challenges, and production bottlenecks.

10. Works closely with the Director of Field Operations to ensure the weekly production schedule is aligned with labor capacity, seasonal demands, and job budget expectations.

11. Assists in route optimization, workload balancing, and resource allocation across maintenance operations.

12. Meets on-site with Field Operations Managers, crews, and field team members when needed to provide support, reinforce standards, and resolve operational issues.

13. Ensures Field Operations Managers are proactively training and developing Crew Leaders, crews, irrigation technicians, spray technicians, and other field personnel.

14. Helps identify bench strength within the field team and supports development planning for future Crew Leaders, Right Hands, and Field Operations Managers.

15. Assists with transitions in books of business, area realignments, staffing changes, and expansion efforts to maintain continuity of service and execution.

16. Partners with customer service and account management team members as needed to ensure strong communication and execution on hotlist items, service issues, and customer expectations.

17. Participates in operational meetings and helps ensure commitments made by the field team are followed through.

18. Supports snow and ice management operations as needed, including staffing readiness, routing support, and operational response during events.

19. Performs other duties as assigned to support the maintenance division’s operational, financial, and growth goals.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum 7+ years of landscape maintenance operations experience.

2. Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience, including managing supervisors or managers.

3. Proven ability to lead and hold managers accountable.

4. Strong knowledge of maintenance operations, including labor planning, routing, quality control, staffing, safety, and budget performance.

5. Ability to use KPIs, scorecards, and operational reports to drive performance.

6. Strong coaching, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

7. Demonstrated success improving performance through other leaders, not just personal execution.

8. Strong organizational skills, follow-through, and decision-making ability.

9. Proficiency with operational software, email, and spreadsheets.

10. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between branches and job sites.

11. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

12. Snow and ice management experience preferred, if applicable.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.

Work Environment:

This position operates in both office and field environments. Regular travel between branches, customer properties, and job sites is required. The role may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, landscape equipment, noise, dust, and uneven terrain while supporting field operations. Often times will be working alone and therefore required to be self-motivated and self-starting to accomplish the job duties and responsibilities.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
