The Opportunity – Field Service Engineer

Premier service provider of capital diagnostic imaging equipment. We are seeking a mid-level Field Service Engineer (FE) based in the Minneapolis, MN area. This field-based role is critical to ensuring the reliability of life-saving medical technology through expert installation, maintenance, and repair at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

·       Equipment Management: Effectively and efficiently install diagnostic imaging equipment; assist with or perform preventive maintenance and calibrations per equipment specifications and standards.

·       Technical Service: Properly troubleshoot, diagnose, and service multiple products in one or more modalities.

·       Customer Relations: Interact directly with healthcare providers to identify issues and needs, maintaining excellent customer relations.

·       Subject Matter Support: Answer technical and applications questions for internal and external customers, escalating to appropriate personnel when necessary.

·       Operational Excellence: Provide accurate and timely service reports, part orders, part returns, timecards, and expense reports.

·       Continuous Improvement: Enhance personal productivity and product knowledge through formal and on-the-job training.

·       Collaboration: Maintain frequent contact with management and respond to internal colleagues (Finance, Sales, Service Support) with professional courtesy.

The Candidate

Education:

  • Two-year post-secondary degree or certificate in electronic technology or equivalent training.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
  • Preference for experience in the digital imaging field or a specific modality.
  • Experience servicing diagnostic imaging equipment is preferred; CT experience is a plus.

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability in the use of hand and power tools; computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to perform specialized technical work with unclear guidelines, requiring judgment where policies and methods are not yet established.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Autonomy: Must be a self-starter able to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Logistics: Willingness to travel overnights as needed and remain available for calls during off-hours.
