Field Representative - Transportation

Advance your career in transportation engineering where your work supports the successful delivery of roadway and infrastructure projects across the Southeast. At Thomas & Hutton, you'll play a key role in construction inspection and project coordination, working closely with contractors, clients, and engineering teams within a company celebrated as a Best Place to Work. Perform construction inspection services for transportation projects including utilities, drainage, grading, and pavement construction
Serve as a liaison between the Client, Project Manager, and contractor
Assist Project Managers in administering construction contracts
Maintain daily job logs and ensure familiarity with project plans and specifications
Visit project sites to inspect conditions and monitor construction progress
Prepare project-related correspondence and digital reports
Attend and participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
Assist in organizing and conducting job progress meetings
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on project execution
Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and client expectations
Support resolution of project-related issues with guidance from senior staff

What you bring:

Construction Management degree or High School diploma with equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in transportation construction inspection or related field
Familiarity with erosion, sedimentation, and pollution control (CEPCI certification a plus)
Knowledge of roadway construction, utility installation, and earthwork
Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to produce accurate digital reports and quantity calculations
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
Experience with asphalt and concrete paving inspection preferred
Experience with roadway and earthwork construction observation preferred
Ability to manage multiple assignments and appropriately prioritize workflow
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
