MFV and MFA are national, Latino-led organizations dedicated to strengthening civic engagement, building political power, and advancing policies that support Latino communities. Their work includes voter registration, voter education, community organizing, advocacy, leadership development, and issue-based campaigns.

Position Summary

The Assistant Field Manager supports the planning and daily execution of voter-registration, voter-education, community-outreach, and voter-mobilization programs.

This position helps supervise and train Canvass Leads and Canvassers who engage Latino communities through canvassing, telephone calls, text messages, digital outreach, and community activities. The Assistant Field Manager assigns work, monitors voter-contact and quality goals, reviews field data and reports, and helps maintain a safe, professional, and accountable field operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with developing and implementing voter-outreach and field strategies.
  • Translate approved field plans into daily and weekly staffing, turf, contact, and reporting assignments.
  • Support canvassing, voter registration, voter education, phone banking, text banking, digital outreach, and Get Out the Vote programs.
  • Establish and monitor daily, weekly, and campaign-wide performance goals.
  • Track progress toward voter-contact, registration, recruitment, volunteer, and program goals.
  • Supervise, schedule, train, coach, and support Canvass Leads, Canvassers, temporary employees, and volunteers.
  • Communicate daily goals, turf assignments, scripts, schedules, safety procedures, and reporting expectations.
  • Conduct shift launches, field observations, individual check-ins, and team debriefs.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, data quality, timekeeping, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Provide constructive feedback and additional training when needed.
  • Promptly elevate performance, conduct, attendance, safety, or employee-relations concerns.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and onboarding field employees when assigned.
  • Engage community members using approved English- and Spanish-language scripts and materials.
  • Provide accurate information concerning voter registration, voter education, voting by mail, election participation, and other approved civic-engagement topics.
  • Respect individuals who decline to participate or ask that outreach end.
  • Help coordinate voter-registration outreach, materials, quality control, tracking, and submission.
  • Ensure employees complete required training before handling voter-registration applications.
  • Monitor the distribution, collection, safeguarding, and timely transfer of voter-registration materials.
  • Ensure applications are not altered, discarded, delayed, improperly prefilled, or mishandled.
  • Maintain required chain-of-custody and reconciliation records.
  • Immediately report lost, damaged, incomplete, late, or potentially mishandled applications.
  • Use VAN, EveryAction, canvassing applications, dialers, spreadsheets, and other approved systems.
  • Review daily reports for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timely submission.
  • Identify and address missing, duplicate, inconsistent, or potentially inaccurate data.
  • Protect confidential voter, supporter, employee, and organizational information.
  • Prepare or assist with field schedules and shift assignments.
  • Ensure employees accurately report all time worked, including required meetings, training, and post-shift reporting.
  • Implement field-safety, weather, transportation, emergency, and incident-reporting procedures.
  • Conduct safety briefings and maintain required check-in, buddy-system, and emergency-contact procedures.
  • Direct employees to leave unsafe locations or suspend field activities when conditions warrant.
  • Promptly report injuries, threats, harassment, accidents, vehicle incidents, or other safety concerns.
  • Maintain appropriate distinctions between MFA’s nonpartisan activities and MFV’s legally permissible advocacy or electoral activities.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and extended campaign-style schedules.
  • Travel throughout the assigned service area.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Relevant college coursework or a degree preferred but not required.

  • Experience using and training others on electoral databases or voter-contact platforms.
  • Experience supporting canvassing, phone, text-message, digital, or voter-registration programs.
  • Strong commitment to civic engagement, racial equity, social justice, and Latino community empowerment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, interpersonal, and staff-motivation skills.
  • Strong understanding of direct voter-contact and field-program practices.
  • Strong data-management, quality-control, and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency with VAN, EveryAction, canvassing applications, spreadsheets, and comparable tools.
