Job description

RK&K'sConstructionManagement and Engineering (CEI) team is currently hiringConstructionInspectors with interstate, roadway and bridgeconstructionexperience for projects in and around Greensboro, NC. As aConstructionInspectorwith RK&K you will perform complex and routine inspections on materials, processes, safety, and documentation to ensureconstructionconforms to plans, specifications and special provisions.

Essential Functions

  • As a construction inspector in RK&K's Construction/CEI division you will perform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate if appropriate materials and construction processes are being used; and that construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisions
  • Reviews drawings to prepare for the inspection. Understands the design of the construction that will be inspected
  • Documents the results of the inspection and communicates to the supervisor
  • Conducts field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation as well as other contract administration documentation
  • Inspects work zones for proper traffic control setup, erosion control devices and maintenance thereof, utility coordination and right-of-way issue resolution

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 1 year ofinspectionexperience required
  • Experience and certifications inNCDOTinspectionandmaterials testing(earthwork, asphalt, concrete, pavement preservation and Erosion &SedimentationControl) is preferred
  • Experience withNCDOT'sconstructionprocedures is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and favorable driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards.
