ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Inspects in-process work, finished products and/or purchased materials for conformance to specifications, using basic inspection instruments and/or techniques. Performs 100% inspection for products (appearance, dimension) as necessary.
  • May provide performance test of completed product, set or adjust and operate inspection equipment to ensure its accuracy.
  • Inspects for dimensional accuracy, process and quality operations to assure conformance to customer, engineering and quality requirements.
  • Participates on project teams to prevent or solve manufacturing or quality problems, reduce cycle times, cost increase efficiency, or any other project, as necessary.
  • Prepares and processes inspection acceptance or rejection paperwork, maintains records, files, and related documentation as necessary.
  • Utilize effective communications and problem solving skills to foster an effective team environment which continually strives for safety, quality, organizational, product, productivity, and improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
  • Three to five years of quality inspection and/or production experience preferably in a fast paced automotive environment.
  • Ability to utilize inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gauge, Vision Systems and other measuring devices.
  • ISO, and/or TS16949 environment preferred.
  • Utilize effective communication, team work, problem solving, and organization skills to foster an effective team environment which continually strives for safety, quality, organizational, product, productivity, and improvements.
  • Good computer skills. Ability to input data and effectively utilize programs such as Microsoft Office to develop reports.
  • Requires ability to work both independently and effectively within a team environment to ensure individual and departmental objectives are accomplished.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color vision.
  • Ability to lift and/or transport 25 lbs and utilize proper lifting techniques and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and measure parts. Familiarity with GD&T preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position works in a warehouse/production environment. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment.
