OVERVIEW
The Organic Field Laborer performs a variety of manual labor tasks related to the planting, cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting of organically grown crops. This position supports daily field operations while ensuring compliance with organic farming practices, company policies, and safety procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plant, cultivate, weed, and harvest organic crops according to established farming practices.
  • Prepare fields for planting by clearing debris, spreading organic amendments, and assisting with soil preparation.
  • Perform hand weeding and other non-chemical pest and weed management activities.
  • Assist with irrigation setup, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Operate hand tools and basic farm equipment safely and effectively.
  • Harvest crops and sort, grade, and package produce according to quality standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, and tools.
  • Follow organic farming standards and procedures to ensure compliance with certification requirements.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting harvested crops and materials.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or crop abnormalities to supervision.
  • Follow all company safety policies and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous agricultural or field labor experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of farm safety practices.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Ability to work in hot, humid, dusty, and outdoor environments.

Working Conditions
  • Outdoor work environment with exposure to sun, heat, rain, insects, and uneven terrain.
  • Seasonal overtime and weekend work may be required based on operational needs and harvest schedules.

  • Knowledge of organic farming practices is beneficial.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
