JOB DESCRIPTION
The Field Engineer will provide engineering and operational support for NOV's Solids Control & Waste Management product line, supporting drilling and industrial operations globally. This role is responsible for supporting equipment operations, field execution, product performance, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational readiness across rental, service, and project activities.
Working closely with Engineering, Service, Operations, Quality, and Sales teams, the Project Engineer will help ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and safe execution of projects. The successful candidate will apply strong engineering fundamentals, practical problem-solving skills, and operational awareness to support NOV's commitment to safety, quality, delivery, and continuous improvement.
This role requires a hands-on and solutions-oriented individual capable of supporting field operations, troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating technical activities, and contributing to operational and engineering improvements across the business. This position aligns with NOV's focus on operational excellence, customer support, and lifecycle product performance
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Technical Support
  • Provide engineering and technical support for Solids Control and Waste Management equipment operations.
  • Support field operations, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and equipment performance evaluations.
  • Assist Operations and Service teams in resolving equipment and process-related issues.
  • Support installation, testing, and commissioning activities at customer sites as required.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for operational improvements and increased reliability.
  • Assist in root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions for operational and equipment-related issues.
  • Support rental and service projects to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective execution.

Product & Process Improvement
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment performance, operational efficiency, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Product Development and Sustaining Engineering teams to provide operational feedback and field experience into product improvements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures, work instructions, and best practices.
  • Participate in equipment evaluations, testing activities, and field trials of new or improved products.
  • Ensure operational activities align with customer requirements, company standards, and applicable regulations.

Customer & Field Support
  • Support customer interactions related to equipment operation, troubleshooting, and technical performance.
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide operational and technical support during field service activities and customer visits.
  • Support training and knowledge-sharing activities for operations and field personnel as required.

Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with NOV's HSE policies, quality standards, and operational procedures.
  • Promote safe work practices and participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, customer requirements, and internal engineering processes.
  • Participate in incident investigations and support corrective and preventive action implementation as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in engineering, operations, field service, or equipment support environment
  • Experience supporting industrial or oilfield equipment operations
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Solids Control and Waste Management equipment and associated processes
  • Familiarity with drilling operations, drilling fluids systems, solids handling systems, and thermal treatment technologies
  • Experience supporting field operations, commissioning, startup, or service activities
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards and operational best practices
  • Experience within the Oil & Gas drilling industry preferred
