This role often requires travel to different locations and may involve working in diverse weather conditions or physical environments.

What does a field data scanner do?

As a Field Data Scanner, your workday usually involves traveling to designated locations, using specialized equipment to scan barcodes, inventory assets, or capture geospatial data, and accurately inputting this information into digital systems. You may work independently or as part of a small field team, coordinating with supervisors and other departments to meet project goals and schedules. While the job often requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions and some physical activity, it offers a dynamic environment with changing sites and tasks. Over time, experienced Field Data Scanners can move into supervisory or data management roles, providing opportunities for career advancement.
