Job description

HGA is seeking a Lead Instrumentation Engineer to support operations in The Woodlands, TX. This Lead Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for overseeing instrumentation design activities, directing project teams, and ensuring the technical quality, accuracy, and constructability of complex engineering deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข Lead and oversee instrumentation engineering activities for complex industrial projects, ensuring adherence to project scope, objectives, schedules, and man-hour budgets.
โ€ข Direct and mentor engineers, designers, and drafters in producing high-quality construction drawing packages, including instrumentation layouts, wiring diagrams, loop sheets, junction box layouts, installation details, and related deliverables.
โ€ข Review and perform detailed analysis and design activities to ensure technical accuracy, compliance with codes/standards, and constructability.
โ€ข Serve as lead engineer on assigned projects, coordinating with the Department Manager to align resources, resolve technical challenges, and meet project milestones.
โ€ข Conduct thorough checking and quality control reviews of instrumentation design packages prior to issue.
โ€ข Support department growth through mentorship, technical guidance, and participation in interviewing and onboarding new team members.
Qualifications:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
โ€ข Minimum of 10 years of experience as an Electrical or Instrumentation Engineer.
โ€ข Thorough understanding of engineering practices, design methods, international codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC), ANSI standards, and industry specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
โ€ข Professional Engineering (PE) registration obtained by examination.
โ€ข Experience as a lead design engineer
โ€ข Experience with a consulting engineering firm and completion of industrial projects.
โ€ข Experience in the oil, gas, hydrocarbon, or refinery industries.
โ€ข Demonstrated capability in engineering management, team leadership, and client communication.
โ€ข Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to respond efficiently to changing priorities and project demands.
โ€ข Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, subcontractors, and internal departments.
โ€ข Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal abilities, and presentation capability.
โ€ข Strong customer service orientation.
โ€ข Proficiency in electrical or instrumentation systems design software
