Job description

The primary function of the Field Engineer is to assist the Senior Project Superintendent, Project Superintendent, Assistant Project Superintendent or other assigned supervisor(s) in all matters related to field activities for a specific project. 
The duties, responsibilities and attributes of the Field Engineer include, but are not limited to: 
Technical Skills
  • Assist the Senior Project Superintendent, Project Superintendent, Assistant Project Superintendent or other assigned supervisor(s) with the initial preparation and maintenance of schedules
  • Assist with the development, maintenance and enforcement of project site safety programs
  • Assist with the coordination and management of material deliveries
  • Assist with the implementation of SWPPP measures and documentation
  • Assist in maintaining a complete and accurate set of working documents pertaining to the project
  • Assist in the coordination of all field inspections and testing
  • Possess knowledge of all documents associated with the project
  • Assist in the implementation of the project specific QA/QC program
Management Skills
  • Assist in providing pertinent field information that could affect the Monthly Reconciliation Report accuracy and forecasts
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and enforcement of project-specific quality control measures
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of eight-week look ahead schedules
  • Assist with coordination of all subcontractor activities
  • Assist with the documentation of all actions dealing with actual or possible claims/legal action
  • Assist in the oversight & Management of laborer responsibilities
  • Attend and document weekly Foreman meetings
  • Has the ability to lead weekly On Site Safety Meeting(s), identify safety hazards on site, complete and implement the weekly site survey(s)
  • Assist with the timely completion of all punch lists and work completion lists

Qualifications: 
Currently enrolled in and / or has received a Four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent experience in a related field or 1-3 years minimum of relevant project field experience

Proficiency in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
 
Basic familiarity with Microsoft Project or P6 Scheduling Software and Project Management Software, such as Prolog, Viewpoint, CMiC or equivalent applications

Physical Demands:
Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to use construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction, when visiting a WEO job site. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear and stand throughout the workday.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in one of WEO's California regional offices and on occasion may be required to visit the construction work site where the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
