Job description

The Genetic Assistant will monitor, track and triage incoming cancer genetic referrals. Their role supports the cancer genetics team, which includes medical oncologists and genetic counsellors, with aspects of case preparation, follow up, patient and physician queries, and maintenance of department databases. 

  • Bachelor Degree in related field (i.e., Science, Biology, Genetics) and/or relevant experience in a genetics clinic  

  • Knowledge of basic genetics

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary setting

  • MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Proficiency with pedigree software and EPIC EMR preferred

  • Demonstrated multi-tasking and prioritization skills
