Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Structured Cabling & Fiber Technician to join our team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex telecommunication and networking systems, including fiber optic cabling, Ethernet, telephony, and low-voltage wiring. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, electrical experience, and proficiency with various hand tools and testing equipment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for field service professionals eager to work on diverse projects in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve cabling issues; re-test to ensure signal integrity and performance.
  • Terminate and test fiber (ST, SC, LC and other connectors) and copper cabling, verify performance, label and document results.
  • Work in data centers and communications closets - routing cable, dressing bundles, and connecting to network equipment (spines, switches, patch panels).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, network diagrams, and installation instructions accurately.
  • Maintain clean, neatly labeled installations following ANSI/TIA/EIA and other industry standards.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and other field techs to ensure project execution matches scope and timeline.

Requirements

    • Proven experience in fiber splicing, network installation, or as a service technician within telecommunications or IT fields.
    • Hands-on experience with hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, punch-down tools, and testing equipment like ohmmeters.
    • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, cable plans, and documentation.
    • Mechanical knowledge related to cable management and conduit installation.
    • Electrical experience or background in low-voltage wiring is highly desirable.
    • Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision while maintaining safety standards.
    • Safety standards (OSHA, TIA/EIA) and practice them on every job is highly desirable.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail for precise cabling work.
    • Valid certification or relevant technical training is a plus. This position is ideal for motivated professionals seeking a challenging role in telecommunications infrastructure with opportunities for growth in the field of structured cabling and fiber optics installation.
    Nice-to-Have
