We are looking for a talented Fiber Optic Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to research cutting-edge testing practices, operate advanced equipment, and design custom test setups for fiber optic interconnect test programs. Position Overview:
As a Fiber Optic Test Engineer, you will manage challenging testing projects from start to finish. You’ll collaborate with technicians, quality management staff, and customers to ensure exceptional outcomes. This role involves research, testing, design, and fabrication to support the rigorous testing of fiber optic interconnects in aerospace environments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and Planning:
    • Research test standards and create custom test plans tailored to customer needs.
    • Stay current on best practices and explore new testing methodologies.
  • Test Equipment Operation:
    • Program and verify high-level equipment parameters for testing.
    • Operate specialized test machinery, including:
      • Vibration Shaker
      • Shock Tester
      • Temperature and Humidity Chambers
      • Thermal Shock Chamber
      • Salt Spray Chamber
      • Tensile Testers
      • Thermal Vacuum Chamber
  • Fiber Optic Testing:
    • Perform insertion loss and return loss measurements on fiber optic interconnects before, during, and after testing.
  • Design and Fabrication:
    • Design, fabricate, and verify custom test equipment and setups.
  • Collaboration and Quality Assurance:
    • Work closely with Test Technicians and Quality Management Staff to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Conduct root cause and trend analysis to improve processes.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience and Expertise:
    • Experience with MIL-DTL-28840, MIL-PRF-28876, and MIL-PRF-29504 standards.
    • LabView programming experience is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), with the ability to chart and graph trends, create metrics, and track and monitor data.
    • Excellent report writing and technical documentation skills.
    • Strong organizational, presentation, and root cause analysis skills.
    • Advanced mathematical aptitude and experience with data analysis/statistical methods.
