Job description

This position is primarily responsible for the consistent preparation and presentation of kitchen, bake, and deli items at a GP Food Store. Additionally responsible for the efficient operation of the kitchen and management of profit, stock, waste control, and hygienic practices.
Job Requirements:

• Two years of restaurant experience and 1 year of restaurant management preferred.
General Responsibilities:
• Provide a positive atmosphere in the kitchen and a great customer experience.
• Respond professionally to guest questions and complaints.
• Ensure workplace and food safety for all staff and customers.
• Follow all protocols for hygiene as determined by regulations and company policy.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and processes to train and develop kitchen staff.
Accountable for all day-to-day operations of the kitchen including, but not limited to:
• Open/close kitchen according to established hours of operation.
• Follow breakfast and lunch timing requirements as established by the company.
• Prepare menu items according to company recipes.
• Meet time and temperature requirements, follow food handling protocols, and proper cleaning/sanitizing techniques throughout the flow of food at Golden Pantry.
• Present food honestly, set up showcases according to planograms.
• Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, surfaces according to food safety standards.
• Maintain kitchen equipment by performing daily and weekly cleaning duties.
• Work with the Store Manager to schedule times and days of kitchen staff so that labor and resources are allocated wisely during peak times and slow times.
• Work with Store Manager to order supplies, food, and ingredients.
• Maintain inventory levels.
Routine Duties
  • Use Datemarking System, Zenput, PDI handheld, NCR equipment, lottery terminal, ITVM, EBT, Radiant, Desktop computer, iPad, Day Mark, Printer, Scanner, Camera System as needed.
  • Any and all applicable CSA, FFA daily tasks.
  • Cleaning, organizing, working beside team members.
  • Stock coolers, shelves, front and face, rotate inventory.
  • Ensure marketing strategies, planograms in place.

Other job duties
  • Handle and report incidents.

Physical Requirements
• Lift up to 25 pounds in a safe manner at least once per shift.
• Stand and/or walk up to eight (8) or ten (10) hours per day depending on shift assignment.
• Squat, bend at waist, twist, grasp, reach and manipulate objects to stock shelves.
• Lift from ground to overhead in order to stock shelves and coolers.
• React to a fire by lifting and transporting a fire extinguisher to the fire area.
• Bend and remove metal plates and underground tank caps in order to check fuel levels.
• Read measurements to one eighth (1/8th) of an inch to determine fuel levels.
• Climb a step ladder to clean windows and retrieve materials.
• Sweep and mop floors, dust shelving and lift and carry trash bags to outside bins.
• Sweep parking lot and clean outside grounds surrounding the convenience store.
• Enter and work in a cooler at a temperature of 34 degrees for up to 30 minutes at a time.
• Utilize a hand truck, flat cart, mop, broom, degreaser, and various cleaning solvents.

• Read, understand, and write the English language at the eighth-grade level.
• Perform the four basic arithmetic operations in order to make change, complete end of shift reports and account for a variety of inventory products during vendor check-in.
• Have sufficient vision to check identification and process transactions.
• Read and understand instructions for operating cash registers, fuel pump controls.
