VCA Veterinary Emergency and Veterinary Specialty Center is looking to expand its Internal Medicine service and is hiring a Certified Veterinary Technician to join its team!  

Schedule: Full-Time opportunities available, 4x 10 hour shifts, weekdays.

Compensation: The starting range is determined by license, skill set, and years of experience in the field.

Being an Internal Medicine Technician: 

Our IM Technicians better understand body systems and the disease process, learn advanced diagnostic testing, provide excellent patient care, and treat patients with cutting-edge techniques. The responsibilities of the Technicians and Veterinary Assistants are to provide support to the Internists and to be part of a collaborative environment to provide thorough patient care. Our Technicians are a vital reason we can help patients feel better and why pet parents feel a little more at ease because their family members are being cared for with great medicine and warm hearts. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to internal medicine patients, including those with complex and chronic conditions.

  • Assist veterinarians with advanced diagnostics and procedures such as ultrasound, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, CT, MRI, and minimally invasive procedures.

  • Safely and effectively place, maintain, and monitor intravenous catheters, central lines, feeding tubes, and urinary catheters.

  • Perform and interpret laboratory testing, including blood gas analysis, urinalysis, cytology preparation, and in-house diagnostics.

  • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and nutritional support as prescribed.

  • Monitor patient vital signs, pain levels, and overall status, promptly identifying and escalating concerns.

  • Provide anesthesia and procedural sedation support, including patient preparation, monitoring, and recovery.

  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and treatment sheets.

  • Educate and communicate effectively with clients regarding diagnostics, treatments, discharge instructions, and at-home care.

  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians, specialty teams, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment and procedure area in accordance with hospital protocols and safety standards.

  • Participate in ongoing training, mentorship, and professional development.

  • Support hospital goals related to patient care, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
