About the Role
The Per Diem Operating Room RN plays a vital role in supporting patients through their fertility journey by delivering exceptional care in the surgical suite. This position is ideal for compassionate, detail-oriented individuals who excel in fast-paced environments and want to make a meaningful difference. As a Per Diem Operating Room RN, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative care while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.
We are seeking a Per Diem Operating Room RN to join our dedicated team at Pinnacle Fertility - Oklahoma in Tulsa, OK. This is a per diem, on-site position with flexible availability and an as-needed schedule, offering the opportunity to contribute to patients' life-changing fertility journeys while delivering exceptional clinical care.
This role provides nursing support during designated coverage weeks throughout the year and offers a predictable per diem schedule that allows for advance planning. Coverage weeks are generally established annually, providing flexibility while enabling nurses to plan their professional and personal commitments well in advance. Coverage assignments may include weekdays and weekends, with daily shifts of either 5 or 10 hours scheduled between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Coverage schedules are communicated in advance whenever possible, creating a unique opportunity for nurses seeking both flexibility and predictability in a per diem role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for procedures, perform preoperative assessment, give discharge instructions, and start IV.
  • Recover patients after general anesthesia and monitored anesthesia care. Reinforce discharge instructions.
  • Deliver direct patient care during pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases in the surgical suite.
  • Accurately document patient care and procedures in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Clearly communicate post-operative instructions to patients and families.
  • Oversee surgical suite operations, ensuring cleanliness, sterility, and equipment functionality.
  • Adhere to and enforce aseptic techniques, quality control measures, and safety standards.
  • Initiate emergency protocols as needed and coordinate equipment repairs.
  • Mentor new staff and provide updates on any protocol changes.
  • Support organizational policies and contribute to process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Surgery Manager to assess equipment and supply needs.
  • Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the surgical team.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Position Requirements
  • Education & Licensure:
    • Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
    • Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing.
    • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
    • Minimum of 1 year of surgical, perioperative, PACU, ambulatory surgery, or procedural nursing experience preferred
    • Experience in reproductive medicine, women's health, ambulatory surgery, or outpatient procedural settings is preferred
  • Skills:
    • Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, bending, transferring patients, and pushing or pulling equipment.
