Ferry Operator

We are currently taking applications for a Ferry Operator for the Morgan City, LA and surrounding areas.

Position Title: Ferry Operator

Location: Morgan City, LA

Pay Rate: Competitive, based on experience

Schedule: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Ferry Operator to join our team. The Ferry Operator is responsible for the safe transportation of passengers, vehicles, and cargo across designated waterways while ensuring compliance with all maritime regulations and company policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate ferry vessels safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vessel inspections.
  • Load and unload passengers, vehicles, and equipment safely.
  • Monitor weather and water conditions to ensure safe operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping duties aboard the vessel.
  • Maintain accurate logs and operational records.
  • Communicate effectively with passengers, crew members, and management.
  • Ensure compliance with all Coast Guard regulations and company safety procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and assist with emergency drills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous marine, vessel, or ferry operating experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of maritime safety procedures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and perform physical labor.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be capable of working in marine and waterfront environments.
