What You'll Do as a General Superintendent:

The General Superintendent is responsible for overseeing field operations across multiple projects, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with company standards on every project.

  • Oversee daily execution of projects to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance with company standards.
  • Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance safety, project performance, resource utilization, and overall profitability.
  • Strengthen the field crew and foreman’s adherence to project schedules and planned milestones.
  • Collaborate with field and office leadership to reinforce accountability and implement schedule discipline strategies.
  • Work closely with the Director of Field Operations to ensure seamless coordination between field operations and project management.
  • Foster alignment between field teams, general foreman, and project managers to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Oversee field execution of multiple active projects from mobilization through completion.
  • Coordinate construction activities and supervise all field personnel, including foremen and laborers.
  • Monitor the progress of projects, track production, and ensure construction schedules are met.
  • Ensure quality control on all projects and handle project closeouts in coordination with the project team.
  • Coordinate utility locates with our team members.
  • Responsible for logistics for field operations, including but not limited to materials, equipment, and workforce.
  • Work closely with the project manager on scheduling, resource allocation, and problem resolution.
  • Communicate regularly with client site managers and project managers regarding scheduling, progress, and any on-site issues.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize project efficiency, performance, and profitability.
  • Monitor daily production performance and ensure accurate tracking of expenses, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Effectively oversee the management of labor, equipment, and material resources to prevent project delays and cyclical workloads.
  • Optimize resource deployment to maintain project momentum and meet schedules.
  • Identify production/cost issues and provide coaching to address and develop team leadership skills.
  • Implement and enforce all field safety protocols, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Responsible for conducting safety training and ensure that all field staff, including operators and drivers, are properly trained in safety practices.
  • Ensure foremen complete necessary paperwork and compliance reports, including DOT compliance for drivers.
  • Ensure strict adherence to construction best practices and inspire a proactive safety mindset.
  • Oversee protocols, conduct worksite inspections, and collaborate with the safety team to reinforce a strong safety culture.
  • Provide leadership to address site challenges and unforeseen obstacles while maintaining safety.
  • Train foremen and laborers on proper fence installation techniques and other relevant field procedures.
  • Ensure all field staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge, particularly regarding equipment operation, installation standards, and field reporting.
  • Assist in the development of and implementation of ongoing training programs for field personnel to enhance performance, safety, and create future competent leadership within the business.
  • Actively identify production/cost issues and coach/develop supervisors and foremen.
  • Foster a high-performance culture built on teamwork and collaboration.
  • Implement change management strategies as the company grows and innovates.
  • Oversee on-site equipment care, including tracking, maintenance, and proper usage of tools and machinery.
  • Ensure equipment and trucks are well-maintained and available for use at job sites as needed.
  • Monitor the condition of field equipment, coordinating repairs and replacements to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with clients, site managers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Act as the project primary point of contact for field-related issues, ensuring client expectations are met.
  • Communicate regularly with office and project staff to ensure alignment between field operations, corporate, and client requirements.

What You Bring:

  • Strong understanding of equipment and tool maintenance.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
  • Proficiency in project management software is a plus.
  • Highly analytical with exceptional problem-solving skills and a drive to find creative and effective solutions to challenges with the ability to grasp new processes, procedures, data, and expectations quickly.
