Position Summary
The
Associate Patent Attorney will support partners and clients across a variety of IP matters, including:
- Patent preparation and prosecution (domestic and international)
- Technology evaluation, due diligence, and opinion work
- Prior art searches and litigation support
- Trademark, copyright, and licensing work (as desired)
This is an opportunity for a

Key Responsibilities
- Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
- Conduct prior art, freedom-to-operate, and patentability searches.
- Prepare legal opinions and technical reports for clients.
- Provide IP counseling on patent strategy and portfolio management.
- Communicate with clients, inventors, and foreign counsel on case strategies.
- Stay current on USPTO policies, patent regulations, and case law updates.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Patent Office Registration Number (Active).
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Admitted to the Colorado Bar (or eligible to sit for the CO Bar).
- 3-5 years of experience in patent prosecution, ideally in Electrical Engineering (EE)-related inventions.
- Strong background in electrical engineering (circuit design, hardware, or related areas).
- Ability to read and create circuit diagrams and understand complex electrical systems.
- Experience using PAIR, EFS-Web, and EPAS systems.
- Excellent written/oral communication and client-facing skills.

Compensation & Performance Structure
- Base Salary: $150,000 - $250,000 (based on experience and merit)
- Production-Based Compensation available for high performers.
- Revenue-based productivity goal: ~1200-1400 billable hours/year (no strict billing minimums).
- Performance Bonuses: Bi-annual discretionary bonuses.
- Client Origination Credit: Eligible for client-based incentives.
