Job Summary:
This posting is for a Federal Work Study position. To be eligible for WorkStudy positions you must maintain enrollment in at least six (6) credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better (some positions may require a higher GPA), and have financial aid in place.
Assists Groundskeepers in performing routine work in caring for grounds, parking lots and campus exterior. Performs assigned tasks with limited supervision. Operates a range of motorized Grounds equipment including, but not limited to, dump trucks, tractors, RTVs, etc. Specific and thorough training will be provided for each piece of equipment. Students will not be required to drive off-campus.
Essential Duties:
  • Performs routine work in caring for grounds: lawn and flowerbed care including mowing, edging, blowing leaves, weeding, fertilizing, pruning, spreading bark chips, and irrigating.
  • Vacuums and sweeps sidewalks and stairs
  • Washes windows
  • Maintains garbage collection and disposal
  • Responsible for snow removal of sidewalks, stairs, and parking lots when necessary
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance
  • Perform building maintenance and some custodial service when necessary

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Requires ability to perform instant or sustained arduous physical activity, sustained walking, ability to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 60 pounds; ability to bend, twist, and stoop repeatedly. Requires coordination sufficient to operate hand tools and equipment safely.
  • Work is performed outdoors and requires exposure to inclement weather.

Education and Experience
  • Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better (some positions may require a higher GPA), and have financial aid in place to be eligible to work in a Work Study student employee capacity at Linn-Benton Community College.
  • Requires basic knowledge and understanding of grounds and landscape maintenance.
  • A valid Oregon driver's license is a requirement of the job.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires reading and writing at a level sufficient to fulfill the duties to be performed for the position.
  • Position requires the ability to carry out oral and written directions.
  • Requires sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers, college staff and students on matters pertaining to grounds.
  • Requires a valid Oregon driver's license.
  • Requires ability to perform instant or sustained arduous physical activity, sustained walking, ability to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 60 pounds; ability to bend, twist, and stoop repeatedly.
  • Requires coordination sufficient to operate hand tools and equipment safely.
  • Work is performed outdoors and requires exposure to inclement weather.
  • Equipment used includes shovels, hoes, rakes, hand pruners and post hole digger, and all types of power and hand tools used in lawn and landscape maintenance.
