Job Title: Medical Records Clerk

Location: MacDill AFB - 6th Medical Group 3250 Zemke Avenue Bldg. 1078 Tampa, FL 33621

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0700โ€“1630 (9-hour shift with 1-hour unpaid meal break); 40 hours/week

No. of FTEs Required: 1 FTE

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year experience to include handling patient records in a healthcare setting, managing electronic health records (EHR) or medical office software, and familiarity with medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment, such as computers, copiers, printers, fax machines and telephone systems to perform a substantial range of medical record maintenance support.
  • License/Certification:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Certified as a RHIT or Registered Health Information Administrator
  • Other Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen

Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve, file, scan, and maintain patient medical records daily
  • Greet patients, respond to record requests, and route calls appropriately
  • Maintain accuracy of electronic and paper records in compliance with HIPAA
  • Operate office equipment (computers, scanners, printers, phones) in support of record management
