Job Overview:

As a Nutanix Systems Engineer at INflow Federal, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and troubleshooting our Linux-based systems. Your strong Nutanix and Linux skills, experience as a Linux system administrator, and troubleshooting capabilities will be vital in addressing operational issues and solving problems as they arise. This role requires a hands-on approach, focusing on operations and firefighting problems to ensure system stability and reliability.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), including AHV, Prism Central, and Prism Element, to support enterprise Linux workloads.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to provision, configure, and manage virtual machines, storage, networking, and cluster resources within Nutanix environments.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using Ansible and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Standardize system configuration, patching, and deployment processes through Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
  • Administer and support Red Hat ecosystem tools, including Satellite and Capsule.
  • Integrate and manage authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., OAuth, SSO, identity providers).
  • Support the development of dashboards and observability solutions using tools such as Grafana and Zabbix.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Linux systems and Nutanix infrastructure for performance, availability, and capacity.
  • Troubleshoot complex system, virtualization, storage, networking, and integration issues across distributed environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Document system architecture, processes, automation workflows, and infrastructure standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including automation maturity, platform modernization, and operational best practices.
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise Linux-based infrastructure in both on-premises and virtualized environments.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • 5+ years of experience administering and engineering systems in enterprise environments, including experience supporting enterprise virtualization platforms such as Nutanix.
  • Solid understanding of Linux system administration fundamentals (networking, storage, security, and OS internals).
  • Strong expertise in configuration management and automation using Ansible.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation and tooling.
  • Experience managing Red Hat-based environments (RHEL, Satellite, Capsule, or similar tools).
  • Hands-on experience administering Nutanix HCI environments, including AHV, Prism Central, Prism Element, virtual machine lifecycle management, storage, networking, and cluster operations.
  • Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Linux virtual machines in Nutanix environments.
  • Understanding of virtualization, hypervisor technologies, storage, and networking concepts.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure, virtualization, and performance issues.
  • Experience implementing security best practices in Linux environments.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting systems.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Nutanix advanced capabilities such as Files, Objects, Flow, Calm, or Disaster Recovery.
  • Experience with Nutanix automation using APIs, PowerShell, or Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
  • Experience with load balancing devices such as HAProxy or F5.
  • Familiarity with authentication and authorization concepts (e.g., OAuth, LDAP, SSO).
  • Experience with observability and dashboarding tools such as Grafana and Zabbix.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integration with infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with VMware-to-Nutanix migration or hybrid virtualization environments.
Clearance Requirements
  • Active DoD TS/SCI (with ability to obtain CI poly)
$115,000 - $150,000 a year
This is the likely salary range for this position. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
Certification Requirements
Most of our contracts require DoD 8140 (formerly 8570) compliance. We built 8140.study - our certification training platform - to help. This helps you study for certifications such as the CompTIA Security+.
