Birdi Systems, Inc. (BSI) is a trusted federal partner delivering secure, enterprise-scale IT, cybersecurity, and mission-critical infrastructure solutions to the U.S. Government and Department of Defense (DoD). We specialize in the design, implementation, and sustainment of complex information systems that support national security operations in highly sensitive environments.

We are seeking a highly experienced Engineering Manager to lead enterprise-level IT engineering efforts in support of a DoD customer located at the Pentagon. This individual will serve as a senior technical authority and engineering leader, responsible for overseeing large-scale information systems architecture, cybersecurity posture, network infrastructure, and engineering team performance within a classified environment.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineering executive with deep experience in enterprise architecture, information assurance, and cross-functional systems integration within DoD environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of demonstrated experience in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems
  • Minimum ten (10) years of demonstrated experience in a senior leadership engineering position
  • Minimum ten (10) years of demonstrated experience managing teams of IT engineers implementing IT projects involving:
    • Network infrastructure
    • Information assurance engineering
    • Software applications
  • Current DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level II certification
  • Active or current Top Secret security clearance adjudicated by DIA or DoD CAF
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or Information Technology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Twenty (20) years of demonstrated experience in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems
  • Prior experience supporting DoD headquarters-level or enterprise-wide modernization initiatives
  • Masterโ€™s degree in a related technical discipline

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish system information requirements through analysis and collaboration with engineering teams in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems
  • Determine and identify high-level functional and technical requirements based on user engagement and enterprise architecture knowledge
  • Design comprehensive system architectures including software, hardware, and communications infrastructure to support current and future cross-functional requirements
  • Identify, assess, and present options for meeting functional and technical requirements, including hardware and software updates or upgrades
  • Develop and oversee high-level system design diagrams and architectural documentation
  • Ensure systems comply with open systems architecture standards, including:
    • Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) reference model
    • International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards
    • Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Open Systems Environment (OSE) reference model
  • Ensure the common operating environment remains compliant and secure
  • Evaluate workflows, organizational processes, and planning structures; develop and implement corrective actions where needed
  • Provide daily supervision, leadership, and technical direction to engineering staff
  • Continuously audit policies, procedures, and security controls
  • Ensure the Government is consistently informed of enterprise cybersecurity posture and risk
