We are seeking a Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer to be part of a fast-paced, leading robotic automation company. In this position you will play an active role as a team lead providing technical direction and mentoring for a team of engineers.

Day in the Life

  • Capable of promoting engineered solutions that meet both the technical and budgetary requirements of the project, contributing your expertise and collaborating effectively with your team
  • Proficient in handling the complete design process, from initial concept development to detailed design and final review
  • Work with your team to develop detailed designs and specifications for mechanical assembly and test equipment
  • Oversee the creation of engineering drawings and documentation, adhering to industry standards and company guidelines.
  • Stay up to date on the latest mechanical engineering technologies and trends, continuously expanding their knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure project success, fostering effective communication and teamwork.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams, addressing design-related issues and ensuring smooth production processes.
  • Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues, analyzing problems, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and teamwork skills, fostering positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Presenting designs to customers in weekly review meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical / Electro Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.  

Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience utilizing solid works designing various custom automated test and assembly machines.
  • Experience leading teams on projects valued at 5M plus
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Proven ability to Lead a mechanical design project team.
  • Work effectively in cross functional teams.
  • Proficient in Solidworks CAD software including FEA simulation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong practical knowledge of mechanical design and perform engineering calculations.
  • Knowledge of sound mechanical design principals, shop practices, and automation and test components.
  • Skills include an intimate knowledge of SolidWorks solid modeling software, knowledge of design techniques, automation techniques and principals involved in creation of automation and test stations and machines.
  • Solid understanding of Controls and how it interacts with the mechanical design
  • Mentoring ability and a desire to teach junior engineers and peers
  • Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, innate sense of commitment to the task at hand
  • Attention to budgets and schedules and the profitability of the company
  • Respected for leadership among peers and the manufacturing group
  • Respected by customers and vendors
