JOB SUMMARY
The Lab Technologist Technical Specialist will perform all duties of a Lab Technologist and will apply their vast knowledge and skills to assists and consult other Technologists with daily testing. In addition, they will perform quality assurance reviews, prepare reports, perform competency evaluations, and assist the department manager with excellent technical skills to provide quality laboratory results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs all duties of Lab Technologist and assists others with testing and troubleshooting
Oversees department in the absence of department manager and assists with technical issue resolution, problem solving, and staff training.
Demonstrates skills and professional judgment required to perform bench consultation, working closely with technicians and technologists.
Responsible for reviewing and verifying Quality Control Records and Instrument Maintenance function logs.
Demonstrates the skills and professional judgment required to assess the competency of licensed and unlicensed personnel.
Responsible for validation and verification studies for new technology, instrumentation or change in methodology.
Manages responsibilities that are specific to the department as assigned by the manager (i.e. linearity, inter-laboratory comparison studies, document control, statistical reports, presentations, committee participation, products recall, blood utilization reports, etc.
Responsible for portions of the CAP, Joint Commission and/or FDA Inspection preparation as assigned by the manager.
Qualifies and participates as a CAP inspector when requested by the manager.
May assists manager with staff performance evaluations and staff meetings.
Assist with regular internal quality audit, recommend changes, and initiate corrective or preventative actions on processes when appropriate.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of Bachelor's degree or its equivalent required in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field.
Licensed as Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of Florida
Minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical laboratory required.
Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
