Position Overview:
Chicago Fire Football Club is seeking a Maintenance Associate for Chicago Fire Pitch, the Club's premier indoor/outdoor community soccer facility. Located on the north side of Chicago, Fire Pitch welcomes 300,000+ visitors each year, providing year-round playing opportunities for youth and adult players of all skill levels.
We aim to provide the best possible experience for our guests, and we are excited to welcome a Maintenance Associate to our team. With oversight and support from the Facility Manager, the focus for this position will be placed on delivering a safe, clean, friendly, soccer-first atmosphere on a daily basis.
Job Responsibilities:The Maintenance Associate will work with the Facility Manager to execute the facility's maintenance and operations plan. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee trash removal around the facility, maintaining a litter-free environment on the playing fields, in the parking lots, and all public-facing areas.
  • Supplement work of vendors to ensure all aspects of the facility meet our high standard for cleanliness and safety.
  • Perform general equipment maintenance, ensuring equipment is kept in good working order, reporting all significant mechanical issues to the Operations Manager.
  • Refill supplies throughout the facility as needed, including the restrooms, locker rooms, front desk, and office areas. Coordinate re-order needs with Facility Manager.
  • Ensure closets, shed, off-site storage, and dumpster enclosure are kept clean and organized.
  • Assist snow removal process around seasonal dome, supporting Operations Manager and external snow removal team to ensure snow removal standards are met.
  • Perform all aspects of field maintenance, inclusive of grooming, line painting, and turf repairs.
  • Participate in semi-annual dome conversion process, transitioning facility from outdoor-to-indoor in November, and from indoor-to-outdoor in April.
  • Support all event operations efforts, including assistance with set-up, tear-down, and clean-up.
  • Fulfill weekly Manager on Duty responsibilities, ensuring the facility runs in a smooth, professional, and safe manner during programming hours. MOD responsibilities require an ability to engage and interact with visitors throughout the facility.
  • Serve as Club ambassador, delivering passion for soccer and the Chicago Fire Football Club on a daily basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years' experience conducting maintenance and operation-oriented tasks preferred, previous experience working as a janitor/handyman a plus.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and enthusiasm for learning new skills.
  • Strong attention to detail is a must.
  • Proactive self-starter, with a demonstrated history of problem solving.
  • No job is too big or too small - unafraid to get hands dirty, able to wear multiple hats, and at times work outside the job description.
  • Comfortable using power tools and machinery.
  • Good communication skills and ability to quickly build relationships.
  • Proven ability to interact and work within a team setting.
  • Well-organized with an ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and flexibility are important in this fast-paced work environment.
  • Comfortable in customer-facing situations, providing friendly customer service to both children and adults.

Requirements
  • Must be able to work flexible hours - nights, weekends, and holidays are required.
  • This job consists of manual labor. Must have physical ability to lift 50 pounds and spend long hours on feet. Frequent bending, sitting, standing, exposure to elements (cold/heat), climbing ladders, walking, and carrying items.
  • Must have driver's license. Access to vehicle strongly preferred.
  • Forklift Certification or willingness to gain certification within specified time.

Compensation:
  • This role offers an hourly rate range of $20-22/hr (rate depends on qualifications, experience, education, etc.)
