- Screenings: Facilitate and provide state-mandated vision, color vision, and hearing screenings for students in targeted grades, Special Education students, and new students. Coordinate follow-up healthcare with community providers.
- Evaluations: Complete Health and Development (H&D) evaluations for students referred for Special Education services, including mandated screenings for three-year reviews.
- Team Collaboration: Serve as a member of the Student Study/Student Success, Individual Education Plan, and 504 Teams to provide assessments and recommendations on health-related issues.
- Plan Development: Develop Individualized Health Support Plans (IHSP), Emergency Care Plans, and provide case management for students with specialized health care needs.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from an accredited college or university. Preliminary School Nurse Credential and completed the audiometry certification course or a valid Clear School Nurse Credential preferred.
- Skills: Expertise in word processing, database, and spreadsheet software. Ability to interpret complex directions and produce clear, concise reports. Strong communication skills, including with individuals of limited English proficiency. Knowledgeable in the social, emotional, and physical needs of children through adults. Familiar with federal, state, and local health regulations for students.
- Experience: Nursing experience in hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices, or health agencies.
- Background Check: Department of Justice/FBI Background Check (or equivalent state or national fingerprint clearance).
